I was purchasing an few items, including Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner, which was clearly advertised on the shelf as Buy One Get One Free with a large promotional sign. When the items rang up at full price, I politely asked about the promotion. The cashier insisted it didn’t apply, so I walked her to the shelf to show her the sign. After reading the sign on the very bottom in small print, she pointed out that the promotion had expired—but the sign was still prominently displayed, along with all the product underneath it. When I explained that stores should honor promotions that are still posted, she snatched the sign off the shelf, crumpled it up, and said they were not honoring anything. I asked to speak with a manager. After a long pause, she said she was the manager. When I asked for her name, she attempted to cover her name badge with her coat and hesitantly said her name was “Karina” (not even sure if that was accurate). At that point, I decided not to purchase anything and walked out. As I was leaving, I overheard her mutter something under her breath that sounded like “El Negro” or something very close to it, which is deeply concerning and offensive. Between the misleading promotion, refusal to honor signage, unprofessional behavior, and a comment that felt racially charged, this experience was unacceptable. I will be reporting this incident formally, and I strongly recommend avoiding this location.
