- BSBritney S.Dec 20, 20251.012.20.25-I replaced my battery in Aug 2024 but for some reason it was taking longer & longer for my car to start. I went to replace the battery today, because thankfully I had a warranty. The young man who replaced my battery was nice but he had another associate guide him through the battery replacement, so I could tell he was new. Once they were done, I turned my car on with no issues. I left to go get gas at a gas station, no more than 5mins away and when I tried to turn my car back on to head home, nothing happened. No click. No nothing. I called auto store to notify them and they told me something could be loose so I needed to look under the hood and tighten whatever came loose. While looking under the hood, I told him "I don't know what I'm looking at or how I would tighten what's loose." He then said, "I can't just leave the store so you're going to have to find tools or a good Samaritan." I thanked him and hung up. I closed hood, grabbed my bag from car to go into gas station and out of habit, I locked my car door. Once it was locked, I realized I had locked my car key inside. I called AAA and while getting that done, auto shop called back and said they could send the driver they couldn't send before. I told them, "Unless you can get into my car to lift the hood, there's nothing that you can do about the battery." He apologized for the "unfortunate set of events" and while I could tell he was genuinely apologetic, it didn't change the fact that I was stuck. I also can't imagine what could've happened if I had gotten onto the highway instead of stopping for gas.

Two years ago, I purchased what I was told was the best battery in the store with a 4-year warranty. This morning, when the battery failed, I went back expecting it to be replaced under warranty. Instead, I was told that the store never carries that brand. That is when I realized I had actually been sold a used battery instead of a new one. When I tried to explain this to the manager, he was dismissive, disrespectful, and even accused me of trying to scam the store. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. It is clear that employees at this location are misleading customers by selling used batteries as new, while charging full price and promising a warranty that they do not honor. I demand this issue be investigated immediately, Customers should not be scammed and disrespected for trusting your business.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
