- AKAnnette KrambDec 7, 20251.0I had to get a jump to drive over to Advance Auto Parts to get a new battery for my 2020 RAV 4. When I got there I was pleased to hear they had the battery I needed. But then she told me my car needs a special tool to install the battery which they don’t have . I asked how is that possible, never heard of such a thing. Luckily I left my car running and went across the street to another auto part store. They laughed and told me to turn my car off . The only tool needed was his hands .

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
