I had a very disappointing experience. The guy provided terrible customer service he was unhelpful, dismissive, and did not address my concerns professionally. On top of that, the car I was given had a strong smell of weed, which made it uncomfortable to use. This is completely unacceptable, especially when you expect a clean and well maintained vehicle. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! They will take your money and let you think you have a reserved car, AND THERE WILL BE NOT ONE! yes, I said, NOT ONE. Told EVERYONE, even an elderly lady that booked a car rental 30 days prior to showing up, they also told them that they do not have any vehicle vehicles at all! Stay AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!

I had a confirmed reservation at Enterprise Rent-A-Car Downtown Tampa for an 8:00 AM pickup that I booked over two weeks in advance, and it was an absolute disaster.
When we arrived after getting off our cruise, there were no cars available—none. The office was full of customers in the same situation, many of whom had just gotten off cruise ships and were trying to make flights. People had children, luggage, tight timelines, and zero support.
What was most frustrating was not just the lack of cars, but the complete lack of urgency or problem-solving from the staff. Customer service was poor at best. There was little communication, no clear plan, and no real effort to help customers find solutions or alternatives.
I waited until 10:14 AM—over two hours past my scheduled pickup time—with no resolution. At that point, it was clear no one was going to fix the situation.
I ended up calling Hertz down the road, booked a car, and it was ready and available within 10 minutes of arriving. That experience made the lack of preparation and service at this location even more frustrating.
If you are relying on this location for transportation, especially on a tight schedule after a cruise or before a flight, I would strongly reconsider. A confirmed reservation clearly does not guarantee a vehicle here.

This is one of the worst rental experiences I have ever had. I made a confirmed reservation in advance because I had an important business trip and needed to drive to Pensacola. When I arrived to pick up the car, the staff simply told me: “Sorry, we don’t have any cars right now. Maybe tomorrow.” That’s it. No solution, no alternative, no real apology.
This is already the second time this has happened. What is the point of making a reservation if the company does not actually reserve a car for you? A reservation should mean something. Instead, they confirm it, let you plan your schedule around it, and then leave you stranded at the counter.
What makes this even worse is that nobody contacted me in advance to warn me that there were no vehicles available. If I had known earlier, I could have made other arrangements. Instead, they wasted my time and completely disrupted my plans.
This level of service is unacceptable for a major rental company. It feels extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to customers. If you actually need a car and depend on your reservation, do not rely on this company. They clearly cannot guarantee the service they promise.
This review is two parts — because it really is a story of two very different experiences.
First, the good: The staff at the local branch were fantastic. Kind, courteous, and doing everything they could to make things right. They went above and beyond to fix a situation that wasn’t their fault. Honestly, five stars for these employees doing corporate’s dirty work. They’re the reason things eventually worked out, and they deserve every bit of credit for saving the day.
Now, the not-so-good — Enterprise the corporation:
We made our reservation online: chose the vehicle, accepted the upgrade offer, selected pickup and drop-off times, and even got a confirmation email saying everything was ready to go. Sounds straightforward, right? Except it wasn’t. When we arrived, the employee at the counter looked genuinely heartbroken to tell us they didn’t have the vehicle we ordered — or any vehicles available at all. Apparently, this isn’t unusual for Enterprise. The company will send out confirmations, overbook locations, and leave their front-line staff scrambling to smooth things over. Customers show up thinking they’re all set, only to find out they’ve been misled and have to wait hours for a car to be delivered or dropped off. It’s unfair to both staff and customers. After waiting, we finally received a Cadillac in place of the Jeep we reserved — same price, but by then, you’re just grateful to get on the road. The car was fine and ran as expected, but the entire experience felt like being lured into a bait-and-switch situation.
Bottom line:
5 stars for the incredible local staff who made the best of a bad situation.
3 stars overall because Enterprise corporate creates chaos, overbooks intentionally, and leaves both customers and employees caught in the mess.
Would I rent again? Only if I knew the same staff were working — they’re the reason Enterprise still has any goodwill left.
