Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience here. I walked in and asked how I would go about setting up an alternator test. He was immediately annoyed, so I offered to come back another time. "Well, is the car even working?” with a huge attitude and I said yes, it’s right out front. He asked again "OK, but is it even working?" I told him yes that it was working but to just never mind. He said, "So you don’t want to do the testing now?" I told him no because his attitude sucked, that I will go elsewhere, and thank you anyway. It’s a stressful time of year and maybe he was having a bad day, but I was pleasant when I walked in and offered to come back another time. I genuinely offered to come back another time because I don’t understand the process. I’ve never had to do this before because I’m experiencing an issue with my vehicle for the first time and I’m trying to figure this out on my own so the last thing I want is for somebody to be annoyed when I ask for help. I went to the competitor in the same parking lot and had a wonderful experience, thankfully.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
