  I had car hire booked with a cheaper supplier from Tampa Airport, then at the last minute my flight times changed and I was not able to amend my booking without incurring significant costs; so i cancelled that car hire. I was then desperate to rebook with a new supplier, but I needed an out of hours supplier ideally on airport property. I'll admit that my costs almost doubled going thru Alamo last minute (it should be said that all car hire options had significantly increased as it was now within 48hrs of travel). Their customer service and the whole experience was worth every penny. The convenience of being right in the airport, having staff there, with no queues ready to assist me. Having a fuss free / stress free check in with no hard sale for extras, this is a great company and well deserving of their high reviews. The car was lovely, I had the choice of multiple vehicles at the time of collection. There was no fuss when retuning the vehicle too. Also items such as "toll pass" was included in my hire agreement, which wasn't with the cheaper deal I'd previously booked. If you want a stress free car hire experience you can not go wrong with Alamo. 100% i will definitely be using again - they are worth the extra cost!

  We use Alamo for each trip we take however after this last weekend we will not use them ever again!!! We received a rental Friday afternoon by sat car would not reverse, called customer service they provided an address to exchange car, showed up and the location was an enterprise rental whom said they can’t exchange an Alamo rental called back to customer service was advised I’d receive a priority call back to set up an exchange as of today Tuesday I have not received a single phone call we vacationed in a very heavily tourist area and had to cancel some plans as having car unable to reverse wasn’t possible in some locations. Book with any other company. This one does not care about its customers. I reached out on their site and on fb messaging not useful at all.

  The good: the suv worked fine, the check in and check out people were nice, and there were no hassles or hidden charges. The bad: I went thru a lengthy contract when I reserved it online and then at pickup went through the same lengthy process at a kiosk.This process tries really hard to get you to pay for stuff you don’t need. I didn’t care for the fact that I reserved a Nissan rogue but at pickup I arrived to a row of limited vehicles to choose from, alongside other renters. I had to scramble to get something I actually wanted. I also think all rentals should just include GPS functionality standard. Having a big useless display all vacation just left me annoyed at Alamo’s nickel and diming. But the important stuff - vehicle working, nice people, no surprise charges - was all good.

  For nearly twenty years, my family and I have been loyal, repeat Alamo customers when visiting the US. In all that time, we have never had a single poor experience, until now. This week, Alamo managed to completely destroy the confidence we had built over two decades. After our airline cancelled our flight and rerouted us to a different departure airport, an unavoidable change and the only way we could travel home with our two young children (aged 6 and 18 months). I contacted Alamo to explain the situation. All we needed was to change our drop‑off location from Tampa to Orlando, less than 100 miles away. I fully expected a reasonable fee for the alteration. What I did not expect was to be told that this minor change would cost $763. To put that into perspective, our entire 10‑night Premium SUV rental was $1,063. Alamo wanted to charge us almost three‑quarters of the original rental cost simply to return the car to a different location due to circumstances entirely outside our control. What shocked me even more was the attitude of the staff on the phone. There was no interest in our situation, no empathy, no attempt to understand that we were travelling with small children after an airline disruption. Just a robotic insistence on an extortionate fee. It felt less like customer service and more like opportunism capitalising on people who have no choice. While our airline is responsible for the initial disruption, Alamo’s response was disproportionate and frankly predatory. This is not the Alamo we have trusted for years. Something has clearly changed within the company, and not for the better. The culture now appears to prioritise profit over reputation, loyalty, and basic customer care. After two decades of choosing Alamo without hesitation, this experience has left us wholly disappointed and questioning whether the company still values long‑term customers at all.

  I recently rented a mid-size SUV from Alamo at Tampa International (TPA) for a week-long trip, and the experience was flawless. Booking online was straightforward with very competitive pricing. Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately—no waiting in line. The representative assisted us with the agreement and directed us to the garage. I was impressed to find over 20 mid-size SUVs available, all spotless and ready to go. We selected a Jeep with less than 10,000 miles on it. The integration with Apple CarPlay was seamless, making navigation for our trip incredibly easy, and the vehicle drove beautifully. The return was just as efficient. There was plenty of staff waiting to receive the car, and the entire checkout took less than a minute. I’ll definitely be using this Alamo location for my future trips to Tampa.
