Review of Gerber Collision & Glass – St. Cloud, FL
The Good, The Bad, and The Path Forward.
The Good ✅
Gerber Collision & Glass in St. Cloud, FL completed body work on two of my vehicles, and I am genuinely impressed with the quality of their craftsmanship.
The paint matched perfectly—a true 100% match on both cars.
Both vehicles have advanced technology, including sensors and radar systems, and everything functioned flawlessly after the repairs. This tells me their technicians know how to work around modern systems with precision.
When I dropped off the cars, I mentioned to a front‑desk gentleman that one vehicle had a slow leak, losing 2–5 PSI per day. Without hesitation, he offered, “Oh, we can plug your tire for you.” That level of initiative and willingness to help was unexpected—in a good way. At that moment, I thought, “This deserves a 10.”
The Bad
Despite the excellent repair work, a few operational issues affected the overall experience:
1. A Promise Not Kept
The car with the flat tire was finished first. The body work looked showroom‑ready, but the promised tire plug was never done. The tire was still low when I picked it up.
Carlos kindly added air when I asked, but the missed promise was disappointing. In business, a forgotten promise can overshadow great work.
2. Communication and Availability Issues
When the second car was ready, Carlos agreed to wait a little past closing time for us. We arrived around 5:20 PM, but he was gone. Another employee helped us, and the repair again looked excellent. However, we were handed the wrong key, and we didn't know it because we use the cellphone as a key to drive our car.
Once home, we realized the mistake. I tried calling and texting both the shop number and Carlos’s number, but:
Both voicemails were full
No one responded
No after-hours system was available to leave a message.
This left me concerned—especially if the key belonged to another customer expecting to pick up their car.
I sent a detailed email to both the business and Carlos, explaining the situation and offering a time for them to retrieve the key. No one contacted me over the weekend.
3. Electrical Concern
When I returned on Monday to exchange keys, Carlos was helpful and addressed my concern about a feature that seemed not to work. It turned out to be related to my headlight settings, though it appears some wiring may have been reconnected differently during the repair. Not a major issue, but worth noting.
The Solution Going Forward
This review is not meant as a complaint, but as constructive feedback to help Gerber Collision & Glass strengthen their already excellent technical work:
1. Keep Promises or Avoid Making Them.
Customers remember promises—especially small ones.
If a service can’t be guaranteed, it’s better not to offer it.
2. Improve Communication Systems
A business handling dozens of vehicles daily should have:
A voicemail system with enough capacity
Regular voicemail clearing
A reliable after-hours method for customers to leave urgent messages
Clear communication when staff agree to wait after closing
These small operational improvements would prevent unnecessary stress for customers and staff.
3. Final Quality Check on Non‑Body Components
Even though the body work was excellent, a quick check of electrical settings or wiring after reassembly would help avoid confusion later.
Final Thoughts
Gerber Collision & Glass delivers top-tier repair quality—their technical work is outstanding. With a few organizational improvements, they could elevate the entire customer experience to match the excellence of their craftsmanship.
