  We had a confirmed Sixt reservation at Sarasota Airport (SRQ) on December 26, 2025 (Confirmation #9728757513). Because our flight was delayed, I proactively called Sixt and was explicitly told the location would remain open late to accommodate our arrival. When we arrived just after midnight, the Sixt counter was closed with no staff available, despite that assurance. We were left stranded with no assistance. As shown in the attached photos: • There were multiple Sixt vehicles visibly available in the parking lot. • We were forced to take a Lyft to Venice costing $158.74, documented by receipt This was not a lack of vehicles — it was a complete failure in communication and customer service that resulted in significant, unnecessary out-of-pocket expense after a long travel day. I strongly recommend anyone renting from this location get written confirmation if arriving late. Verbal assurances were meaningless in our case.

  When I arrived to pick up my rental, I was told the class and type I chose wasn't available. So, they were going to offer me a smaller vehicle. However, the price was the same as the larger class. I contested and said if I wanted a smaller vehicle I would have paid that rate when booking online. The agent became visibly upset and frustrated that I refused to pay more for a lesser vehicle. He then offered me an upgrade for the same price. A more than fair compromise. However, about a week after returning the vehicle I was charged another $65. This was due to a higher rental rate and a false late dropoff. My rental contract online stated my pickup and drop off time, and I was within the window.

  If we could give 0 stars it would be a more accurate measurement of our experience. We booked a car on Expedia through Sixt car rental company at Sarasota Bradenton airport. The car was booked for a week and was paid for at the time of booking. When we arrived and attempted to pick up the reserved car, Sixt told us we could not pick it up without a credit card... Even though the documents stated that you could pick up with a credit OR debit card. We asked for a refund at that time because we were not allowed to take the car we reserved and they refused us the refund. I called Expedia customer service to get assistance with the matter and the first man I spoke to said "oh yes we will take care of this right away, I am escalating this and sending an email to Sixt to get your refund. You'll be receiving an email with an update soon." Today, 7 days later, we have still not received an email so we called in again to Expedia. We were told basically "sorry but we can't get your refund until Sixt agrees to refund the money paid to Expedia." Sixt refused to let take the car without a credit card, and refused to refund us the money we already paid to rent the car. This is a crooked business practice and they do not deserve to continue to be in business cheating people. So I am writing this review as a warning to other customers: buying through Expedia does not protect you at all from companies who want to cheat you. Sixt car rental doesn't care at all about it's patrons and will keep money without providing services. I don't know how this is legal and I know it isn't ethical. I do not recommend anyone using this car rental service.

  This review is mostly regarding the kind customer service I recieved from Robert upon picking up my car at Sarasota airport. It was a quick check in, I'm happy with the car, but beyond that, he observed I needed, and gave me some extra help getting to the car due to a medical issue. The stars are mostly for his extra efforts. I have yet to see how things play out once I return the car. I felt the deposit was hefty, but again we'll see at the end of the rental, how all is handled. Thanks again Robert!
