First the minor details - a very badly seized-up and rounded off oil pan drain plug. The seized-up part, I believe was caused by some moron at the dealership that probably used an impact wrench to put the plug back after an oil change. The rounding off part is totally on me and a pair of vise grips, when I decided to change my oil.
Now the major outcome. I went to Autozone to get a new drain plug and hopefully some advice and buy tools to remove the old plug.
Now the major details and the major out-come. I had been to AutoZone a few days earlier to inquire about getting a new thermostat (my code reader said I might need one). As soon as I walked in this young gentleman, I’ll call him “Brooklyn” because that’s his real name, approached and asked if he could help. I told him I needed a thermostat, because my code reader said I probably did. I had previously put in some needed coolant. He said “let me get a code reader and double check it for you.” When he checked with his reader the code was gone. He hen asked one of the “experts” for advice. They determined I did not need a new thermostat, the coolant took care of the problem. Color me impressed.
So when I returned to AutoZone (for the oil plug problem) I asked to be taken care of by Brooklyn. I explained the situation and true to his nature he sought out more advice on how to remove that plug. In stepped Carlos (his real name). Let me tell you, this guy is a force of nature. He said “let me take a look at it”. He laid down on the asphalt, slid under my vehicle, then slid back out, said I’ll be right back. After a couple of failed attempts (he did not give up) success. Plug removed (oil drained into pan) and new plug installed. He then installed the free oil filter that came with necessary oil purchase. Now I am positive all this service was done with the blessing of AutoZone. Doing a rough internet search, it would have cost between $200 & $400 at a dealership and I only went to AutoZone for a new plug. I am aware that there maybe doubters that think this review is possibly made up by AutoZone. This review is not unique, check other reviews.

“Los” (staff) was super helpful + supported us with a quick exchange with wipers. Despite us coming in close to closing time — he was really helpful!!
Divendra (?) was super short, annoyed in temperament and attempted to rush us out the door when we had another need. Grateful that Los was there to help despite his peer’s attitude.
