Unfortunately, this was another auto service experience marked by poor communication and questionable practices. I used to think Grease Monkey was different and recommended them often—but not anymore.
I brought my car in for an oil change and told them in advance about an oil leak. I was assured they’d look at it. After the service, no one mentioned the leak until I asked, at which point I was told it was the oil pan and could be fixed with sealant. I was quoted $292 (mostly labor) and specifically asked whether I’d be charged for additional oil since I had just paid for an oil change. I was told no.
When I called the next day to schedule the repair, I was never told it would take more than the quoted two hours. However, when I dropped my car off at 8am for a scheduled appointment, I was suddenly told they needed to keep it overnight due to sealant curing time. This was never mentioned beforehand. I only agreed because I was assured I’d be picked up by their shuttle at 9am the next morning and that the car would be ready.
The next morning, the shuttle didn’t arrive until 10am, and when I got there, my car wasn’t done. When I raised concerns about the lack of communication, Kurt was dismissive. To make matters worse, I was then told the bill would be over $500—far more than the $292 quote. They were trying to charge me labor for another oil change. Only after I pushed back did he mention (for the first time) that the oil pan had been replaced entirely because it was bent, which would be unusual as my car is a 2022 that has never been in accident. I was never called about this change, my husband wasn’t informed when he called the night before, and I wasn’t shown the old part or any photos.
At that point, I was exhausted and just paid the bill, which was still more than $100 over the original quote.
I would think twice before trusting this location. Clear communication, transparency, and honoring quoted prices matter—and this experience fell short on all three.
