I’ve been given the absolute run around trying to return my vehicle and get my deposit back. I had a car rental through insurance because of an accident involving a deer with my car. I was duped into paying for gas so I wouldn’t have to fill it before returning, but it turns out they overcharged for that and it would have been cheaper to fill it before returning it, which is fine I guess if that were the only issue. I’m gullible and that’s on me. Whatever. The car itself was great for the week that I needed it. My car was finished on a Friday afternoon and I live an hour from Enterprise and the shop where my car was being worked on and couldn’t make it all work out before one or both locations closed. The mechanic (classic collision; love them. Guy is amazing) was willing to come in on Saturday; a day they were closed, mind you, and let me get my car. I called Enterprise and was informed they were closed on Saturday. They said that I could return the vehicle to the location on 23rd street and the man I spoke to said he’d personally be working there and he’d make sure I got a ride to the mechanic and everything would be easy peasy. I called twice about this same thing just to confirm I fully understood the time and where to be and was assured that it would be easy. Well, I arrive to Enterprise on 23rd on Saturday morning only to be told they don’t know what I’m talking about. Nobody from this location was working there that day and nobody had communicated to them what was going on AND they didn’t have enough employees to give me a ride. I call Guy with Classic Collision. I ask him if he can come pick me up. He says to let Enterprise know that the vehicle will be at his location and they can go pick it up from there. Enterprise employee at 23rd tells me that’s fine; says he did all the paperwork so I’ll get my deposit back and they’ll just tell this location to go get the car on Monday. Well, it’s Monday and I have USAA, so as soon as Enterprise releases the deposit, I will get it back. I won’t have to wait the 3-5 business days you have to wait with other banks. I call this location. I’m told there’s no notation on the account and the employee apologizes profusely, but says the only notation they have is that my car was returned to the 23rd street location. These businesses obviously suck at communicating with one another and just tell their customers whatever they think they want to hear. Chloe says they’re super busy, but they’re going to get it taken care of and they’re going to call me back. 4-5 hours go by. It’s nearly 3pm and they close at 6. I’m anxious. I don’t want Enterprise to try to charge me for extra BS and I want my deposit back. I call again. This employee says he will escalate the situation and make sure I get my deposit back and that he’d give me a call back. It was when I asked about a time that I should expect a call back, as they are busy and close soon and I’m anxious, that he went completely radio silent for 5 minutes and then hung up on me. 🤦🏼♀️ I call USAA; USAA calls Enterprise with me on the line. Tells them I’m on the line. The employee bold faced lies with me ON THE PHONE and says he spoke to me already and got it all sorted out. USAA tells me they’ll handle the situation from here. 645pm rolls around and the manager calls me. Apologizes profusely, says this isn’t the experience they want customers having, and says he’s sending my deposit back while we’re on the phone. I had to call my bank to confirm they actually returned my deposit because they did it in a weird way that it showed up and then disappeared. Thankfully, I have it back now and I can be done with the whole ordeal. You could certainly pay me to use Enterprise again, but you can bet they’ll never see another dime out of me. If I need to rent a vehicle for anything, it’s not going to be through this awful company.
