I visited Valvoline on December 23rd for a routine oil change after my car notified me it was time. I drive a 2024 Toyota Corolla, purchased brand new with zero miles, and I have never had a single issue with it prior to this visit.
During my appointment, the employees told me my car had no oil and that I was driving it with no oil at all, which was extremely alarming. This made no sense, as my car showed no warning lights, no performance issues, and I check my oil regularly, which had always been properly filled. They did not show me proof. only made this claim verbally.
They proceeded with the oil change, which cost $112. Immediately afterward, I took my car to Toyota Service to get a second opinion because Valvoline claimed I had an oil leak.
At Toyota, the technician physically showed me my vehicle and confirmed that the oil leak was coming from the oil filter that had just been installed by Valvoline. He stated clearly that the oil change had been done incorrectly. Because of this, I was forced to pay for another oil change, which cost $114. Toyota then ran my car for an extended period to ensure there were no leaks, and everything was completely fine afterward.
Toyota provided me with written documentation stating that the oil leak was caused by an improperly installed oil filter.
I returned to Valvoline to request a refund. The manager, Albert, was extremely rude, he would not look at me, interrupted me repeatedly, and dismissed everything I said. He claimed there was “nothing they could do” and told me I would not receive a refund because of a policy stating that no one else is allowed to work on the car. This is absurd, considering the issue was caused by Valvoline’s mistake. When I asked for the corporate phone number, he gave me an incorrect number. Albert was present during my original oil change.
Additionally, one of the employees asked me for my phone number, which felt completely inappropriate and unprofessional.
Because of this experience, I had to find Valvoline’s corporate number on my own, and they have since opened an investigation. Having to go through all of this just to get a refund for an error they caused is extremely disappointing.
My car is currently running perfectly after Toyota fixed the issue. I drove it to my family’s house for the holidays with zero problems, and the oil level has remained perfect.
This location was unprofessional, dismissive, and careless. Given the circumstances, I genuinely believe this oil change was mishandled, and the way the situation was addressed afterward was unacceptable. It makes sense why this location pressures customers to leave positive reviews.
I would not recommend this Valvoline location to anyone, especially if you care about your vehicle.
