Only after I had used other car rental companies that I started to appreciate how great Alamo is. While other companies tried to upsell me all optional charges, Alamo moved right on after I declined once, allowing me to pick up the car in 10-15 minutes after approaching the counter. While other companies tried to charge a flat $55/day Sun Pass fee, Alamo offered toll + $5/day. Even after I declined the Sun Pass use at other rental companies, I was still charged the Sun Pass use (I swear I didn't drive on toll roads.). I had to call to get a refund onto my credit card. Alamo? One honest company! I appreciate the little piece of paper clarifying address of rental car return (you don't need it when you pick up the car, but the address is very useful for setting destination on GPS when you return the car in a hurry.). Once I left the airport, Alamo sent me a text offering help. I seldom need help, but just in case I do, I won't need to look for Alamo's contact info. So thoughtful of customer experience! I rented from Alamo twice within the last 2 months for leisure travel.

Their busted car left me stranded in the middle of the street with my 1 year old and 2 year old crying. I called their support line after finally getting to a safe spot. Then they asked me if they think the car could make it to the nearest Alamo Location, So I tried with them on the phone and got stuck in the middle of the road again with my one year-old and two-year-old crying in the backseat and they told me now it’s an emergency and I need to hang up and call 911 and then they hung up on me. Now when I’m calling them and asking if I can get my money back, they’re giving me the runaround and their representatives on the phone are extremely unfriendly because they think I’m gonna be upset. I’m sure I’ll never get my money back and they clearly don’t care that they’re equipment put us in danger. Luckily, my friends were on the same trip with us with a different rental car and they could come rescue us. No, thanks to Alamo enterprise or anything else. If my friends were not there with their rental car, we probably would’ve missed our cruise that was taking off in 45 minutes. Never renting from this group again. Update 4/28/26: I contacted them as they mentioned in their comment and they said we will get back to you via email (they told me this once already and I have heard nothing). Then their agent hung up on me once she decided there was nothing she could do for me. Just like the lady hung up on me while I was in the middle of the road and she decided she couldn’t do anything to help.

Rented a midsize SUV (Toyota Rav 4) for a week in FL from the Alamo car rental at the airport. On the second day of my trip, the car started giving me sensor warnings (Front Camera malfunction, Cruise Control Assist malfunction, collision warning malfunction, etc) which continued to pop up for the entirety of my trip. I called the number listed for Alamo immediately upon the first warning notification. I was instructed to take the car to a nearby Enterprise Car Rental to swap out the vehicle. However, that location did not have a vehicle available for a swap. So I was sent to a local mechanic to identify and document the exact issue. The mechanic connected his computer and immediately received mixed messages, with the dash showing active warnings but the computer not reading any issues. The mechanic recommended swapping out the car, and indicated in the case notes that Alamo needed to send the car to a dealer for service, as the fix required removing the cars front bumper to access the potentially faulty sensor. At this point, I again called Alamo, informed them of both the non-available car swap and mechanic report. I was told my case would be sent to a supervisor for an expedited review and that I would be contacted the following day (this would be Friday 4/17, after picking up the car initially on Wednesday 4/15) and instructed where to go to swap out the car. I called Alamo again Friday afternoon and was told that there was nothing that could be done until the review was completed, and was again told that I would be contacted by a supervisor shortly. I never heard another word from Alamo. I reported the issue to the rental return agent upon the rental return at the end of my trip. The agent apologized and offered me a free day upon my next rental. I wasn’t looking for a handout, but I took that offer. Not really thinking about renting from Alamo in the future after this experience, but if I do I guess I will receive a free day, lol.

We took our family for a trip to florida and rented through alamo. The day of our trip we received a phone call the van we chose was in recall and we would receive a different vehicle an SUV to accommodate our family size. When we arrived at midnight after our flight to get our car they were going to give us the van anyways without even saying anything. My husband and I told them we were told we were getting something different due to a recall and showed them the voicemail left by one of their employees. This employee proceeded to tell us they haven’t heard any issues with their vans and so he was going to give it to us -The recall was for airbags according to this employee. My husband and I told this employee we were very uncomfortable taking a van with our children with airbags in recall. He said he could give us a smaller vehicle at no cost or we could pay significant more for an SUV (which we were told we were getting at no extra cost in exchange in the voicemail left earlier). Highly disappointed with the way this company handled this situation all around. Do not recommend them.

There were parts of the rental process that were great, but they are vastly overshadowed by a horrible experience and interaction with an employee named Gonzalo. I set up a reservation with Alamo because of the high customer satisfaction rating, as I wanted to avoid one of those nightmare rental car experiences I have heard about, which is why I thought I was safe reserving through Alamo. Upon landing, we went to the rental counter at Orlando International Airport to complete the rental and then proceeded to the garage as instructed. There, we met Gonzalo, who took our paperwork and led us to an adjacent garage where he told us we could choose any vehicle from a row. Immediately I knew there was going to be a problem, but my wife and children and I still walked the row and looked at every vehicle available. All of them were too small. I had specifically chosen the “Midsize SUV” category based on the dimensions of a Nissan Rogue, and I had even measured our luggage ahead of time to make sure everything would fit. At that point I had only slept about 30 minutes the night before due to work, packing, and an early flight, so I was completely exhausted and the last thing I wanted to do was go all the way back to the terminal. We still checked each vehicle carefully, but my initial instincts were correct—they were all too small. The largest vehicle in the row was a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, which still was not large enough. I went back to Gonzalo and explained that we had reserved and paid for a midsize SUV, specifically something like a Nissan Rogue, and he pointed to the row and insisted those were all midsize SUVs. I told him none of the vehicles matched what we reserved, but he repeatedly said I was wrong and that those were all he had available, and that there were no Nissan Rogues. There was no way we could fit our children and luggage, so we had to walk back to the terminal with everything. I asked for his name and told him I was going back to speak with someone, and he seemed almost eager to show me his name tag, which made the situation feel even worse. I am not sure why Gonzalo handled the situation the way he did, but it was clear he understood what he was doing. I cannot say whether there are quotas or incentives involved, but it was clear he intentionally tried to have us accept a smaller, cheaper vehicle than what we had reserved and paid for. On the walk back, I was quiet because I was exhausted and frustrated, but my wife—who is not the type to be confrontational—said Gonzalo really seemed to have a bad attitude, which surprised me. Once we got back, we waited about 15 minutes and explained everything to the attendant, who told us a larger vehicle would cost an additional $20 per day. At that point, this was turning into exactly the kind of rental experience I was trying to avoid, and I felt misled, so I asked to cancel and receive a refund, as I would rather pay more elsewhere than continue with a company owned by Enterprise Holdings under those circumstances. Fortunately, the original attendant stepped in and walked back to the garage with us. On the way, she made a comment suggesting Gonzalo was not very pleasant, which lined up with what we experienced. When we returned, Gonzalo was nowhere to be found. She brought us to a row directly next to the booth where there were at least ten Nissan Rogues available. We were both shocked, since Gonzalo had said none were available. She told us to pick one, everything fit perfectly, and she confirmed this was the vehicle we should have had from the start. Almost every other employee we interacted with was outstanding, but the experience with Gonzalo completely overshadowed everything else and has made this the last time I will rent from a company owned by Enterprise.
