Rafael made me a return customer. Had several issues when I arrived (no available vehicles, then given one that wasn’t cleaned properly, etc). When I returned my vehicle a week later, I braced myself for negative discussion. However, Rafael’s positive and patient demeanor changed my experience. He apologized for the small issues I encountered and complimented me on cleaning the vehicle before returning. Without even asking, he gave me through instructions on how to grab the mover and make my way safely to the terminal.

National Car Rental at the MIA airport was the best car rental experience we have had. We travel every year for the holidays and this was the first time we used them. I made the minivan reservation online, which was simple to do. Checking in at the desk was quick and efficient because I was the only one in line. All the other car rental check in desks were 15+ people deep, waiting to check in. Once I walked to the parking garage where the vehicles were, it took less than 15 minutes for my vehicle to be ready. It was a very new (less than 5k miles) minivan and very clean. I have numerous horror stories of rental car companies (not from National) over the years however National made up for all of them. Thank you!

I rented a car from National last Monday and unfortunately the car was towed for being parked illegally That was my fault. The rest is on National. I have been renting with National for 15 years but that means nothing to them. I called National 3 times trying to find out what happens next and had to wait on hold 20 minutes. The first rep told me they wouldn’t allow me to pay the towing company to get the car and that I would have to call the National branch at the airport to get another rental. She then gave me a telephone number for the same call center she was at. Really!! After waiting another 20 minutes on hold I got a rep who was even more confused about what was happening and then the call dropped. After waiting another 15-20 minutes on hold i got a rep who said she would help me by sending me to an Enterprise rental agency nearby my location since National and Enterprise are connected. I asked if the Enterprise agency knew what was happening and would have a car and know that this was part of an existing rental. She assured me it was all good. After taking an Uber to the Enterprise location, they told me they had no cars. So if my trip wasn’t already ruined, it really was now. But it got worse when I got my bill from National. I was charged an impound tow fee of $364.56 despite the fee to recover the car was $159 but I expected them to add something on. I understand that. However, I didn’t understand the exact same impound tow fee but this one for $125.00 which seems punitive and feels like a money grab. They maintained the charge for 2 days despite me only having the car for a day. The total was $731.79 and then I had to Uber/Lyft the rest of the weekend which was also very expensive So, the weekend was really ruined but my biggest disappointment is with National in how they treated a 15 year relationship. I expected better but now I know what matters most to them. I have deleted my app and will be looking for another company where I already understand they don’t care about loyalty. See ya later National

We love the car much bigger than I thought it would be, but very frustrated and that we could not find the gas tank opener. We spent at least 5 to 10 minutes at the gas station and asking people if they had any idea and we all looked I even took a video of the things to prove that I was there, but there was no way we could open the gas thing so when we got back, we explained it to the young man that was checking us in, and he was very nice and gave us the rate as if we had bought gas and showed us that it was on the floor hidden underneath the seat somewhere there is no direction book in the glove compartment so we could find a way to put gas in it was extremely frustrating and that we were nervous because it was hard to find a gas station at the airport and we ended up in heavy traffic, trying to make a U-turn getting back to the gas station, but it all ended up OK and everybody was very nice about it and gives me another story for a later date. We will definitely rent from National again thank you.

The american sporty car was a centerpiece for our road trip, an aspiration difficult to achieve for a European traveler. We took every precaution, engaging in extensive communication (email, Instagram, site support), and checking our booking repeatedly with National. To further maximize our chances and streamline the process, I also created an Emerald Club account, providing sensitive data like my driver's license and date of birth. Crucially, at this stage again, no problem was flagged. At every single touchpoint, including the counter where the agent called the lot and confirmed everything was "OK," we were assured. It was only after I had paid the full, premium rate for the sports car class that the parking lot manager informed us it was "absolutely not possible" due to my age. The Emerald Club promise of choosing a car freely was completely broken, as we were limited to selecting from only four basic models. This entire process felt like a calculated scam. The manager's only defense was a "simple glitch" in your system, a system that remains faulty 10 months later, demonstrating a failure to address systemic problems. ^^' While I received an initial $100 credit offer from manager Jordan, this is nowhere near the €250–$300 price difference between the sports car class and the Nissan Altima sedan we were forced to take. Despite my clear preference to settle this internally and amicably, and multiple attempts to follow up, Jordan has stopped responding entirely. The disappointment of having the centerpiece of our road trip snatched away, coupled with being overcharged and then ignored, shows a deep failure in customer care and business ethics at National.
