Rented a car in Edinburgh. It smelled of cigarettes. 1 hour into our trip, the Check Engine light comes on. Called the road side assistance number and spent an hour on the phone on hold and being transferred around in a vicious cycle. Continued to Stirling and stopped at Enterprise there. No help. They sent me to a garage and they were too busy to help but did say the car was sage to drive. Went back to Stirling Enterprise and we were told to drive back to Edinburgh to return the car. I called Edinburgh Enterprise. Spent 45 minutes on the phone. Was told by the lady she would pass on the information and I would receive a call back that day. That never happened. We went on with our trip. No call for the next 7 days. It's Scotland. It rains every day. We turned in the car a wee bit dirty. I bought the extra insurance and when we get home, I get an email that we are being charged for cleaning and a burn mark on one of the seats. We have no way to contest it back in the US and Enterprise knows it. I have to pay an additional 100 pounds to take care if this "claim". I paid nearly $400 for the extra insurance. This is just a scam. No service with our problems and just take more money because they know I have no recourse to fight this from the US. I did file a BBB complaint and I'll tell everyone I know about this scam. If I prevent one person from renting a car and being scammed like this, it will be worth the time it took to write this. I have a Scottish friend. He says they are known for this. I wish he would have said that before I was scammed.

First the car (Luxury Largest SUV) was not ready upon my arrival and I was forced to wait 60+ minutes past the booked time. Second, the staff was not friendly and just expected me to take a lesser vehicle that they did have ready on time while my cost was still the same. The vehicle itself needed to be washed, cleaned, and refueled, yet the inside still had the previous peoples garbage in the arm rest containers in the center console so they did 2 out of 3. Lastly, this is not the typical experience I receive from ANY rental car companies and I rent monthly since I travel for work. Good customer service would have been to offer anything in return for their lack of being prepared. Not even a water was offered, let alone anything of real value for wasting my time while I was on vacation. I subsequently missed my original dinner reservation as a result and my deposit on the dinner at Versace Mansion. In the end, Enterprise please take note...... I expect more out of an established company with a training program that supposedly teaches management and customer service to their employees.

The rental car was very good, a full size Ford Expedition. Very clean, comfortable and roomy for eight passengers as well as luggage. The vehicle was available for pickup shortlt after we arrived. The only issue we had was the return location. We were informed by a enterprise representative, that we could return the car at the Miami Cruise Port. When we arrived at the port the day we were scheduled to sail, we learned that it was not the case. We stopped at two Enterprise locations, that were listed online. Those locations were no longer in business. We finally returned it to the airport, and got a taxi back to board the ship. All worked out in the end, but integrity is a big part as far as customer service. Our vacation was moments from being ruined.

As usual the pickup and return process at the Miami centre was seamless and simple, however there were some some issues with the car and the process.
When checking in online using the app for the rental as promoted by the app there is no option to add a second driver as per the documentation provided beforehand by Enterprise.
This meant that I could not then add a second driver as planned for the rental.
I was also concerned at the following issues:
The tire pressures were clearly not checked prior to collecting the rental in Miami as the next time using the car after travelling to where we were staying the car flashed up tire pressure warning. Have paid for a tank of fuel for the rental, upon having to refuel the fuel level gauge went way up past the full mark well past the point the fuel gauge was reading on picking up the vehicle, and the expected fuel milage was 130 miles higher than when the vehicle was picked up at the start of the rental, meaning the vehicle was not anywhere near a full tank of fuel. This issue was indeed resolved to my satisfaction when I returned the vehicle however this issue is concerning.
The final issue was the blind spot warning system shut down with a system error. To be sure this happened only on the last day of the rental, so could have just been incidental and nothing that had been observed previously.

Saturday, November 01, 2025, 12:45 AM. If you're planning to make a reservation here at this location, SAVE YOUR TIME and don't come here. The policies on their website are NOT the same policies they have here when you check in. They expect you to know their policies for this location even though they're NOT listed on the website; that's their common sense here. You read and take all the necessary precautions based on what's on the website for THIS AIRPORT LOCATION, and then you arrive here and it turns out that nothing you read and planned for applies because they have different terms here that you have no way of knowing until you get here. I waited 30 minutes or more to be served because the only two people there were both assisting a single customer who was also having trouble checking in—two people trying to help one. After 30 minutes, the manager finally deigned to come out and help them see what was happening. All this time, I still hadn't been helped, even though there were now three people. When those three people finally managed to resolve one customer's problem, I discovered I couldn't check in because other policies applied, which I wasn't aware of because they weren't listed on the website. They expected me to know them even though they weren't listed. I don't understand how people with so little common sense and so little skill in addressing problems and finding solutions can be in charge of this place at this location. This isn't about money, about whether it's more or less, it's about TIME, because people come here with an itinerary and prior planning, and you end up with your plans practically ruined by the incompetence and lack of common sense of these people. If I could leave 0 stars or -000 I would.
