I don't really take the time to leave reviews unless the situation was really drastic. In this case I went to my local store and I was having an emergency where my car was down the block and would not start. I was informed it needed a jump. I was sold a Portable jump box which happened to be their most expensive model for apparently engines up to 6.0 trucks when the car I needed to jump was a 2.0 liter. I opened the packaging to the device on my way back to my vehicle since I was frantic my car was in the middle of the street but my father that was in the area had beaten me back to the car and had a jump box himself and the device was never used. I came back to the store and requested a refund since the device was not used I was denied. I was denied an exchange for a lesser device as well given I was sold a top of the line model by the reps even though it was way more than I needed and they just took advantage of the situation and sold me the most expensive one they had. I was then reached out to by the regional manager allegedly and he ended up being a complete waste of space and waste of my time and ranted about how the could not take the financial hit. Honestly a whole joke. Would not recommend anyone visit this place and to be fair Advance Auto is not what it used to be and customer experiences like the one I just had are just going to be the very interactions that'll run them out of business. I would NEVER recommend a family member go to Advance auto parts unless they want to get taken advantage of and be sold expensive parts or tools just to make a quick buck.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
