- LCLori CarmelloJun 30, 20255.0Stopped in this Advance location while traveling home from SC on Sunday 6/29/25 around 5 pm One of our wipers flew off the car and we still had 200 miles to go. These wipers were just replaced last month at a shop. This young man that was working came outside checked to see what had happened and that all we would need was the wiper. He was able to tell us exactly what went wrong, checked the remaining wiper and then installed the new one. He was so pleasant and knowledgeable and helpful. He got us right back on the road to home. It was such a relief as it rained most of the drive back. Thank you so much for your help. Wish I could remember your name.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
