Don't support this location. I purchased a volt meter this afternoon...of which I have limited knowledge of. I ended up with the only one they had...$39 and some change!
The person that checked me out was good enough to lend me his knife to open it in the store. Once I got home, and read the directions, I realized it was too advanced for me. so within 2 hours I went back to the store with receipt in hand to return it... I had been alert enough to slice open only the rear of the sealed plastic. The same person that checked me out was still there. He explained that "anything" electronic was not returnable...but would ask his manager who was in the back area. After a few minutes, he returned and said the manager said the same thing. If I had further questions I could talk to his manager. I said if the manager can't walk up here and clearly see that the item is a volt meter and not some actual auto part or realize that...I don't think anything I can say will change the situation. In this world of customer service and returns are usually generically accepted, I won't waste my time...and especially money at this location. Maybe the manger can take a Customer Service class sometime.

EJ was so helpful. We came in late and needed help figuring out the issue with our car. EJ and his coworker gave us great service in such a friendly and professional manner that I will never shop elsewhere for my auto parts needs in Jacksonville Beach. He knows how to make customers for life. Thank for getting us all fixed up EJ!

They always have good stock and prices are very reasonable compared to dealers. The days are long gone when the associates were able to help with things like a windshield wiper replacements, headight bulbs replaced, etc. So when you end up paying $90 for labor at a place like Mavis and $50 for a headlight you then start to look at future alternatives. It's a bit like tipping on take out coffee? Really? Once again when these places go under you gotta expect it.

Thirteen minutes on the phone with this store got me nothing but incorrect information. Three minutes with the St. Augustine Advance Auto location solved everything.
I called about a dead battery under warranty. Andy, the front desk associate, couldn’t find my warranty with my phone number, eventually located it by email, then said he was “blocked in the system” from seeing the purchase date. When I asked how they handle warranty service without a receipt, he referred me to his manager, Latoya. Before speaking to me, she laughed audibly in the background after I asked if there was a GM or someone above her who could assist.
Latoya told me my Platinum AGM battery, purchased in March 2022, had a three-year warranty, was expired, and that they don’t prorate. She then went silent — no offer of help, no attempt to retain my business.
I immediately called the St. Augustine Advance Auto. In under three minutes, they found my account, confirmed the battery was in stock, and correctly informed me it has a four-year warranty — meaning Latoya’s claim was wrong. Whether she was misinformed or misrepresented the facts, the result was the same: I was denied service I was entitled to.
Noah at the St. Augustine store earned my business. This location lost it.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
