- JJJoeMar 28, 20261.0I went into the store at 3 on a Saturday and went right to the Help isle after saying hello to the two employees behind the counter, both of which didn't even acknowledge that I was there. After looking for an adaptor for a few minuets, I went to the counter with the two parts I brought in, a 3/8" rubber hose and a carburetor air filter hosing as I was trying to find a grommet to connect them. I asked if she could look up a PCV grommet and she asked me for year, make, and model. I told her it was a project car and that I was looking for something that would fit with the parts I brought. She said she can't look anything up without a year, make and model. I asked her, "What if you just typed into the search bar 'pcv grommet' and looked at a list of all the grommets Advance Auto sells?" thinking that there would be one with the right sizes I needed. She said she can not look anything up with out vehicle information. I worked for Advance Auto for 4 years as an assistant manager, and this level of lazy from the employee who seemed to be at some level of management was just pathetic. She didn't even try. Even if the computer system they use didn't let them type in "PCV grommet", she could have Googled it and found a picture or a part number to interchange or something. She could have even typed in any older car information if that was what was need to get to a parts search screen. This is not the first time I've had issues with this store, but it will be the last.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
