  I travel for work across the country and spend more time in rental cars than I do my own—so this isn’t coming from a casual customer. Out of every location I deal with, Gainesville Airport is hands down the worst. I’m a loyal Executive Elite National customer and in that location every single week. I do frequent one-way rentals and go out of my way to help their inventory flow—regularly telling them to give me whatever they need to move. I bring back some of the newest, nicest vehicles from JAX, TPA, MCO, and MIA. It’s a mutually beneficial system…or at least it should be. The problem? There is zero reciprocity, zero recognition, and frankly, zero effort. When I need a vehicle for a 9-day work rotation and ask for the same basic courtesy in return, it’s like I’m asking for a personal favor instead of engaging in a professional relationship I’ve consistently contributed to. The manager, Maggie, and one particular employee couldn’t seem to care less. There’s no acknowledgment of loyalty, no sense of urgency, and no customer service standard to speak of. Even more frustrating—every interaction with this employee feels like the first time we’ve ever met. Completely robotic. No awareness, no continuity, no effort to build any kind of rapport with someone who is literally in their office weekly. At this point, it’s just disappointing. When a frequent, flexible, and cooperative customer is treated like an inconvenience, it speaks volumes about the leadership and culture of that location. Gainesville National: if this is the standard, you’re not just falling short—you’re actively driving away the exact customers you should be prioritizing.

  This location saved our vacation when our vehicle broke down on I-75. Robert was very professional and courteous, and went above and beyond to help us change our initial rental into a one-way. Saved us a stop and luggage swap on our way home and was much appreciated!

  National car rental at Gainesville airport was terrific. Our car was super clean and Maggie at the front desk was incredibly helpful in explaining to us the advantages of the protection program which I'm so glad we selected. I will definitely be coming back and am glad I learned for about the program so that the next time I rent I can continue to select it.

  A holding fee of 400$ was placed on my debit card before I was able to take the car and only after being charged was I told that I would need a credit card, I still Haven’t been reimbursed And I wait diligently for national to do the right thing.

  National is always logistically consistent with their seamless transactions. The staff is always friendly and professional. I don't consider using any other car rental if National is available.
