  Selling out a vehicle type for people who rent a vehicle once a year and leaving your Executive Elite loyalty customers with the leftovers is one of the worst business decisions. No more loyalty to National for sure in my future rentals.

  Terrible National Rental Car location. The garage staff are not interested in helping customers, but rather they prefer to stand around and socialize with one another. When I could not find a single example of the Standard Crossover class vehicle unlocked, I went to get help and several of the employees actively scattered to get away from me. Once I did find someone to help me, they tried to put me into a Nissan Rogue which is a much smaller class of SUV than the class of vehicle that I had paid to rent. I went to the service counter and waited for over 30 minutes because there was only one person working there. Then just as it was my turn, the same person from the garage walked someone else up to the counter and had them go before me, even though they had arrived after I did. The lady at the counter was friendly and insisted they would correct the issue. She called the staff in the garage and advised they would show me to the correct location of the vehicles where I could pick out one. Instead, they drove over a Dodge Durango with about 10k miles on it which was a similar class of vehicle. We didn't get to choose the vehicle (one of the main reasons I use National), and this particular vehicle smelled terrible. It smelled like the cleaner used in schools to clean up vomit. Of course they walked away as soon as the brought the car over and then another employee drove around and started honking the horn at us while we were trying to load our luggage. He then sped away when I started to ask what his problem was. The odor in the car remained until the last day we were there. Other than that, it ran well and did get good gas mileage for such a large vehicle. The return process was about the same as any National location, and the staff there were a bit more friendly than when we had arrived the week earlier.

  Cars are very clean, customer service decent. Rates are misleading and inaccurate. I booked online and was given a different price at pick up. The inconvenience of extending a rental return to having to return the rental and getting another rental is what did it for me. This is my first and last time doing business with National Car Rental.

  - Arrived at midnight, waited at terminal for about 30 minutes for shuttle bus to rental car center. - about 20 cars waiting to exit the parking lot with only one window open. So waited about 30 minutes after we picked our car before exiting the lot. + pretty good executive selection here, wrangler rubicon, gladiator, Mazda mx5, minivan, ram 1500, Kia Santa fea etc. + actually good customer service, they reach out and explained shuttle is an airport service. So I guess keep this in mind when you are renting at FLL and make sure you have 1 extra hour

  Our flight was delayed 3 hours from MI so I called National before leaving MI to make sure someone would still be in ft Lauderdale when we landed. The customer service rep assured me that someone would be available until 3am. We landed at 130am and we had a toddler with us, so our rental included a carseat and when we got to the rental car place, the person at the counter said we're closed and walked away. I called another customer service rep who told me to go to another rental car place. All were closed. Now we had no car and no carseat. We had to Uber to our hotel without a carseat and go back in the morning to get the car. Bad first night of vacation.
