I gave 1 star because you can not give ZERO!!!! By far the WORST car rental experience I have ever had. Rented a car from the Fort Lauderdale airport location. We were given a Jetta. By the looks of it, it appeared to be just fine. When we were leaving the airport we did notice a slight squeak when braking, but honestly did not think much of it. We were on the interstate for an hour at a late hour, so no traffic and no reason to break. As we excited the interstate in Miami, we were stopping more frequently as there are many lights in the city. Each time we stopped the noise became louder and louder. I immediately picked up the phone to call the rental company and tell them the breaks were grinding. By this point it sounded as if it were metal on metal. The rental company told us they would replace the car for us, but we would have to return it to the location at the airport. I explained we were an hour away in Miami and did not feel the car was safe to drive. I was told if the car was drivable then we would need to drive it. I asked for them to send someone with another car and swap it fornus; and was told they could only send a new car on a flatbed and I would need to pay for that. I asked them to send a tow truck and just come take the car, I was told I would have to pay for the tow. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told the same thing. If they sent a tow truck we were responsible for payment for the tow. I informed them I would like to record them stating I should drive the car and that if we were injured or injured anyone else while driving the car back to the airport that we would be holding them responsible. They never again said I should drive the car and said if I wanted a tow truck I would need to pay for it. They did say rather than driving back to Fort Lauderdale we could return it to Miami airport. We parked the car for 3 days and borrowed a friend's car.
Today (one month later) we received an email from the company stating after an investigation they found we were not at fault for the breaks being bad and that they would not be holding us responsible for the damages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SIXT Fort Lauderdale stole a left item in my rental car. I immediately, within an hour of dropping off my rental car, contacted SIXT corporate, And was also put in contact with SIXT Fort Lauderdale. I alerted them to the item left behind- my Canada goose winter parka- And immediately filled out a report. Three points of contact within one hour regarding the left item! ! A week later, I got a response that they couldn’t locate it. I responded - and then No further reply/action was taken. This item was stolen from me, even though it was immediately reported - While I was still in the airport, awaiting my flight departure. I have no faith in this company to “ Do the right thing” in the future. Sad. Extremely poor customer service- Especially for myself and my husband who frequent this service regularly for our business needs.

After being stranded at Fort Lauderdale Airport for over nine hours following a 10-day cruise, my flight was canceled just before midnight. Hotel prices had skyrocketed to over $700 a night, and every rental car company I spoke with said they had nothing large enough for four people and our luggage to drive back to South Carolina.
I left my elderly parents at the airport with our luggage and ran between rental car counters, desperately trying to find a solution. An Avis representative finally suggested I try SIXT on the second floor. I had honestly never heard of them before, but at that point, I was exhausted and out of options.
From the moment I reached the SIXT counter, Jeff completely changed the night. He greeted me with a warm smile, and when he asked how he could help, I broke down in tears. I explained that I was traveling with my elderly parents, that my father is diabetic, and that I needed to get us home to Charleston, SC.
Jeff gave a brief “yikes” smile—then immediately rolled up his sleeves and got to work. Against all odds, he found the only vehicle left in the entire airport that could meet our needs: a pickup truck that could be rented one-way and dropped off in either Charlotte or Raleigh. At that point, I would have driven it to Ohio if it meant getting my family home safely.
I drove through the night back to South Carolina, and the next afternoon I returned the truck in Raleigh without issue. Thanks to Jeff and SIXT, I was able to get my parents home safely during an incredibly stressful situation.
I cannot thank SIXT—and especially Jeff—enough for their compassion, problem-solving, and willingness to help when no one else could. They didn’t just rent me a vehicle; they helped me in a moment of real need. SIXT has earned a customer for life.

Do not rent a car from this company. It’s a scam you’re renting a luxury they give you standard your renting standard they give you economy then they change the Prices and if you do not like the price you want to cancel you can’t you stuck with them even though they don’t give you any car they still charging you for that and it’s a problem to get your money back so please do not rent from these people. These so many company that you can rent the car from and they wouldn’t charge you money if you don’t take the car so do not go to sixt car rental. It’s a scam. look at how many bad reviews you have you don’t do nothing about it. All you do is we apply to the review and say how much you are sorry to hear of what happened to us look how many people are unhappy with you guys. The worst company ever

The car (VW) that I picked up had engine mechanical problem. It was making rocking sounds when speeding up to 70 miles. I had to exchange another car (a Nissan was given). It had many paint damages including the rear bumper which were recorded in Sixt website. Nevertheless, my travel plan with friends was disturbed. Even worser, after car return, I was accused of rear bumper damage because Sixt Claim department was comparing the conditions/appearance with the first car (see attached pictures). I responded Sixt damage claim email immediately providing pictures and followed with phone call. I received a confirmation (with a mail reference number) that the said damage was not during my rental and the case is closed without any claim against me. A few days later, Sixt sent me another email claiming damage cost etc. with invoices. I was totally in extreme frustrations. Because their Claim Office closes after 2pm, I sent my response through email and attached all previous emails and pictures. Followed by another phone call on the next morning, I was told that their system did not clear my case properly. I am not happy that I have to deal with such a company for their repeated errors. Actually, only when this wrong claim was put on me, did I realise reviews already said 'their putting unreasonable damage claims on clients were not unusual'.
I will not use Sixt again and do not recommend anyone to take a chance. It is not worthed to unnecessary frustrations that could spoil travelling trips.
