Rented a full size SUV to only find out once I drove my two hour trip was cockroach filled! I called the emergency line they directed us to the nearest airport (25 mins away!) to return the car & we got stuck with a mini van as a replacement. Also had given us an infant car seat that expired! I called customer service and was directed to speak to someone once I got back to the airport. They said they could credit us $200 our full size suv was $700! Also said we’d be credited for the car seat and gas that never happened! We’ve used Alamo almost every trip and would never recommend them again! Another party who vacationed with us paid $260 for a mini van they stated they could not match that price. I’d give 0 stars if I could.

We had reserve a convertible for our four day stay in Ft Lauderdale and arranged for skip the line, Go straight to the car service. When we arrived at the lot, we were told it would be 30 minutes to get our car - numerous others were being told the same regardless of the type of car reserved. We could see that there were barely any cars in the lot - it looked like they had overbooked and were waiting for cars to be returned. After 30 minutes, no car. After 40 minutes, nothing (although others in line behind us were getting other types of cars). After 50 minutes, we asked if there were even any convertibles in the facility and could not get an answer. After 1 hour and being completely frustrated with no straight answers, and assuming there wasnt even a convertible in the facility since we had received no information to the contrary, we told them to just give us anything with four wheels and an engine. We finally left the airport after 1hr and 15 minutes in a car we did not want. Although they refunded the difference in cost between the reserved convertible and the one we drove off with, we are still angry at the lack of honesty and the totally unacceptable poor customer service provided by the Alamo staff at the facility. Not sure we'll ever rent from Alamo again.

We usually like Alamo for car rentals but we had the most difficult experience with their staff in Ft. Lauderdale. I booked the rental under my account but it was for my husbands work travel so when we tried to pay for it they wouldn’t let us use his credit card, even tho we are married and have the same last name and he was going to be the driver. Then they tried to make us make a new reservation to get it on his card and tried to charge us $300 more for our rental! Ultimately we ended up having to use my business card for the rental, but the whole thing was really inconvenient and an issue for business expenses now. They dragged this out for so long. Then when we went to pick our cars we had rented a midsized suv and they gave an option between two cars which were tiny crossovers, which couldn’t fit our luggage. They didn’t have what we rented so we had to get placed in a mini van. All around it was just a crappy location and staff. We’ve never had an issue with this company before.

I think Alamo needs to improve the quality of their Intermediate SUV fleet. I ended up with Jeep Compass. I've never liked that model from its inception and I found that I still don't like it. For the rental amount charged I definitely didn't feel that I received value in return. I tried to voice my opinion at the return and the return agent simply recommended upgrading. Upgrading isn't the point it simply wasn't a value add. Worse vehicle I've ever rented. I was left feeling as if the rep didn't value my multiple decades long relationship with their parent company, Enterprise when he didn't bother to offer me any concessions for my dissatisfaction. Why ask for a customer's level of satisfaction if you are simply going to brush it off with a comment to basically spend more the next time? I visit Miami 4 to 5 times a year and Alamo will not be my rental of choice.

I used Costco to book this trip and I messed up the dates for my travel. I avoided the counter by using the Alamo QR code for express checkout. There was nothing on this that confirmed my reservation although I did enter the Alamo reservation id. After selecting my car I went to exit the garage. The agent was on a personal phone call using her speakerphone and hardly even looked at me. First she asked for my license and then after continuing her phone conversation asked me for my credit card then back to her call and finally asking for the UPC code on my phone and went back to her phone call. She never mentioned that I was two days early for my reservation nor confirmed which day I would be returning the car. All she said was I was good to go and went back to her call. When I returned the car, the agent checking me in never commented that I was returning earlier than my reservation and didn’t confirm my charges, he just offered an email receipt which I agreed to. Later when I received my email I found out that I didn’t get the Costco pricing even though the receipt showed Costco Contract. After returning home I was able to call customer support at Alamo and they were very good about refunding the difference right way.
