ZERO), and because no warning light had ever come on, I had no idea. I originally went to Pep Boys next door for my 9am appointment, thinking I just needed a normal oil change. After 45 minutes on a busy Saturday morning, they came back and basically told me they wouldn't help me because the car had no oil , and offered no guidance on what to do next. So I backed out of their garage, stressed and confused, and drove around the building to Advanced Auto Parts. That's where I met my angel, Atif. He immediately put me at ease. He told me he could help add oil to my car since I wasn't sure how to do it myself. He spent a calm, patient ten minutes not only ringing me up with the right oil, but then going out and adding it himself, checking it, adding more, testing it again , making absolutely sure my car was filled. He was polite, reassuring, and genuinely kind through the whole thing. And the best part? As soon as he finished helping me, I watched him seamlessly offer the same level of care to another customer, a younger guy who clearly needed guidance too. Atif is freakin' awesome. I am SO grateful for him. Advanced Auto Parts' customer service is on another level, and Atif turned a stressful morning into a total win. If you ever need help, go see him , he's the real deal.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
