I came to Fox automotive with my device having a faulty wire that was installed by the mobile tech who was called to look at my car several times and did not even bother to check the wiring that was installed that he did. Fox went at it right away and fixed it that same day while I waited. They went above and beyond to help me.

It was horrible! I traveled 2 hours there and back on Friday only to be turned away as they were too busy(scheduled appointment). I went back on Sunday and left my vehicle until installation was complete on Monday 7:30 P.M. The garage was very hot and so noisy I couldn't hear the beeps so I had difficulty learning the breathing pattern, but finally figured it out. I practiced when I got home so I'm fairly comfortable with it now. They somehow tripped the lock out during installation costing me an additional $80.25 for a reset as well as an installation charge of $338.00 (pretty pricey). in summary, I paid over $400 for the device and they plan to charge $50/month for calibration. If I knew then what I know now, I would never go for Intoxalock. I'm stuck with it for 6 months...which is starting to look like a long time!
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority.
