I’ve been bringing my vehicle to Wannes for repairs for several years now, and I’ve always had a positive experience. Mark, the manager, is honest and transparent about the cost estimates and works within my budget. My car is a 2011 Honda, and over the years, I’ve faced numerous issues due to it being an older vehicle. Each time I’ve brought it in, the team has repaired it quickly and efficiently. Now, with over 200K miles, my car runs better than ever. Huge thanks to Mark and the dedicated repair team at Wannes for their excellent service!
I brought my truck in for a Jasper transmission install and paid for the transmission in full. When I picked up the truck and paid for the labor, it immediately displayed check engine lights that were not present before the transmission work. I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot. I left the truck there overnight so they could diagnose the issue.
The next day, they told me the codes were fixed. But on my way home, another engine code appeared. I brought the truck back and looked underneath, only to find the wiring harness hanging loose. I had specifically asked them to secure it so it wouldn’t get pinched in the driveshaft. Their response was, “things happen,” but they assured me they would “make it right.”
After they claimed the wiring was secured and the codes were resolved, I drove home again — and yet another code appeared. When I called to express my frustration, I was told they “weren’t going to rebuild my whole truck - transmission shifts fine,” even though the issues were directly related to their work. At that point, I placed a claim hold on my credit card for the labor because the situation was clearly spiraling.
I then took my truck to a 2nd shop. They found that the wiring harness had been zip tied to the stainless steel fuel lines, and the driveshaft had pinched and stripped the wires. This caused multiple engine codes because the damaged wires were grounding out on the fuel lines. They also found a transmission pan leak, loose skid pan bolts covering the transfer case, and loose high pressure fuel lines.
When I went to pick up the truck later that day, the 2nd shop suddenly refused to work on it and was extremely rude, offering no explanation. Things only got worse from there.
Then, when I took the truck to a 3rd shop, Jasper initially denied the warranty claim to the leaking transmission pan due to “non payment.” Wannes Transmission had contacted Jasper and falsely claimed they had not been paid for the transmission. I had to personally call Jasper and explain that I had only disputed the labor charge, not the transmission itself. Only then was the claim approved.
I can only assume this false report is why the 2nd shop refused to work on my truck, though they never told me that directly. It now appears that Wannes Transmission attempted to blacklist me from other repair shops simply because I disputed the labor charge — a dispute that was entirely justified given the damage and negligence involved.
The 3rd shop discovered even more issues: the “loose” skid pan bolts were actually stripped out, requiring the holes to be tapped and oversized bolts installed. They also found the fuel line bracket missing — the bracket that secures both the fuel lines and the wiring harness to the driver’s side of the transmission. This bracket was absolutely present when I dropped the truck off to Wannes, as I had zero issues with anything other than the failed transmission.
To make matters worse, this bracket is a discontinued GM part, meaning I may now have to source a used one or have a custom piece machined.
Wannes Transmission never offered a refund, never took responsibility, and never attempted to make things right. I requested a partial refund for the labor, and they refused. Their poor workmanship and dishonesty have cost me over $1,000 in additional repairs and parts — not to mention lost time, lost work, and the frustration of having to visit multiple shops just to correct their mistakes.
I would never recommend Wannes Transmission for any work. Their lack of professionalism, substandard workmanship, and refusal to stand behind their service created one of the worst automotive repair experiences I’ve ever had.
