We were driving from Orlando to Destin FL with my husband and four of our children in our Ford Expedition . We were about half way through our drive when a guy pulled up next to us and pointed at our tire and did the explosion sign. We pulled over and looked at our tire but it looked fine so we got back on the road then about 15 mins later an 18 wheeler points at the tire . So we got off the exit and saw the Mavis Tire so we pulled in at 4:55pm on a Sunday and Spoke with Jesus who said they were closing but would look at the tires to make sure it was as ok. Then they took the car and put it up on the lift and Christopher looked at the tires and pointed out the right front tire was delaminating and was unsafe to drive on. Since we had tire coverage from the ford dealer my husband said he didn't want to buy a tire because Ford would replace the tire for free. Since we had a full size tire as a spare Christopher had our spare tire put on and and put the bad tire but back up under the where it belonged . Multiple people stayed late past closing time to help us. They didn't charge us for any of it even through we tried multiple times to pay them something. They were more concerned about making sure our car was safe to drive so we could get back on the road. Both Jesus and Christopher went above and beyond to help us and not to make money but just to genuinely help. There was another young gentleman that also stayed to help with tire sadly I didn't get his name. However, I can not say enough about how thankful I am for them helping . This story could of been very different ending . So if you need Tires or Breaks and are in the Alachua area I highly recommend going through this Mavis tire.
Came in to Mavis Discount Tire during a pretty busy time and Jesus Soto was running the show. I honestly thought I was gonna be sitting and waiting for awhile, instead I was helped immediately. He was helping multiple customers at once but stayed on top of everything and kept things moving. He explained what my car needed without any pressure or upselling, which I really appreciated. You can tell he’s experienced and knows how to manage a shop efficiently. Solid service, honest communication, and no wasted time. I’ll definitely be back.
I was really impressed with Jesus Soto at Mavis Discount Tire. The place was clearly busy, but he handled multiple customers at the same time without missing a beat. He stayed calm, organized, and made sure everyone felt acknowledged and taken care of. Even while juggling several things at once, he took the time to explain what was going on with my car and kept everything moving efficiently. It’s clear he knows how to manage both people and service really well. Great experience overall — definitely someone who keeps the shop running smoothly.
I had an excellent experience with Jesus Soto, the service manager at Mavis Discount Tire. From the moment I arrived, he was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was handled correctly. He took the time to explain what my vehicle needed, answered all my questions clearly, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It’s rare to find someone who combines great customer service with true expertise, but Jesus does exactly that. I highly recommend asking for him if you want honest, efficient, and top-quality service.

Subject: Safety Complaint – Improper Tire Recommendation and Attempt to Install Low Load-Rated Tire (Tesla Model Y)
Hello,
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an unsafe and unprofessional experience at Alachua service center on 2/26.
My wife brought our Tesla Model Y to your service because the tire had a nail puncture with only minor air loss. The tire is in excellent condition with approximately 10,000 miles of use and did not require replacement. A standard puncture repair (removing the nail and patching/plugging the puncture) would have been appropriate in this situation.
However, your employee insisted that the tire “must be replaced,” without providing a valid technical reason or attempting a proper inspection and repair.
Even more concerning, the employee offered to replace the tire with a cheap Chinese tire with a very low load rating that is not appropriate for a Tesla Model Y. Recommending and attempting to install a tire that does not meet the required load index is a serious safety issue and could potentially result in tire failure (including a blowout) at highway speeds, putting our family and other drivers at risk.
This behavior appears to be either gross negligence or an attempt to upsell unnecessary parts while disregarding basic safety standards.
I am requesting:
1. A written explanation for why your employee refused to repair the puncture.
2. Written confirmation of the exact tire brand/model and load index that was recommended as a replacement.
3. Details of your company policy for puncture repairs and minimum load rating requirements for customer vehicles (especially EVs like Tesla).
4. Immediate corrective action, including staff training, to ensure this does not happen again.
