- MJMark JJan 16, 20261.0One star for the old woman who is extremely disrespectful and rude. It is not my fault you are in your 60's and have to work. It is not my fault your life is miserable. It is not my fault you made poor decisions in life and now you are stuck working here at your age. All I asked for was to have a defective battery replaced that I literally just bought yesterday. I got rudeness, disrespect, and nastiness in return. I told my wife about it and 6 months ago she had a similar experience with the same woman when buying wiper blades for our Jeep. Yesterday when I bought the battery the older man who helped me was extremely professional, helpful, and overall made the experience of buying the battery great. Here is one area Advanced Auto could improve: voltage test your batteries before you sell them to the customer. A brand new battery should not have 12.1 volts at cold startup in the morning. I tested my vehicles for a parasitic draw before replacing the battery to begin with; and found no such issue. Misery loves company and I won't be joining this old woman in her poor attitude today. You are miserable and that is all your fault. Have a good day Karen.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
