I am a Emerald member and have always had nothing but good experiences here, most recently with an extended rental due to an issue with my personal vehicle being in for repairs. Vehicle choice is generally great, with numerous options to suit most needs. Staff are always friendly and helpful and since the space is shared between National and its partner companies, the staff can generally locate something different if you aren't seeing the vehicle you want (at least that has been my experience using Emerald Aisle). I have been able to walk out, get into a vehicle I wanted and be through the exit gate in less than 10 minutes on a good day....but it never takes long even during peak travel times. Also, on two occasions I have left something in a rental at this location and BOTH times the items made their way to the lost and found and I was able to retrieve them. Being able to leave an expensive IPad in a vehicle on a Friday and go back Monday and have it handed over to me speaks volumes to their attention to customer service and their good staff. Great location to work with.
- JJJessicaOct 28, 20251.0I rented a car from National at the Hartford airport. When I booked my one-way trip, I wasn't sure when I would be returning or which airport I would be able to fly out of. I ended up needing to fly out of Providence, which also has a National rental car location at the airport. When I called to change the drop-off location, National told me that they would charge me a $725 fee to return at a different airport. That is an obscenely expensive fee that I can't afford (and is much more than the actual cost to rent the car). To avoid the fee, I spent 7.5 hours on the last day of my trip driving to Hartford to return the car and back to where I was staying in south coast Mass. I rented another car for one day from a different company that doesn't charge huge fees to return at a different airport. I have been a loyal customer for years but travel can be unpredictable and often needs to be flexible so I would not rent from National again. One star because the car itself was clean and in working order.
