Will not go back to any Advanced Auto store. Bought a remanufactured alternator which was bad. It can happen they replaced it. The replacement looked like it had been returned so the salesperson tested it, it tested fine. When I installed two of the threaded holes are stripped. When I brought it back they said it wasn't from there store it had a NAPA part number. So now I'm out $300 with a still broken car.

This is my go-to place. Kathy is the best! They are very kind here, and Kathy always tries to help, and everyone else is helpful too.
There are a few auto parts places in the area, but I prefer to go here. If they don't have what you need, they will order it for you.

I came in looking for something to affix my license plate to my car since the dealership messed it up. The crew helped me find a license plate screw kit that worked with my car and Steven came out and personally fixed the problem for me. It wasn't necessarily an easy fix, but he didn't give up, nor did he make me feel like an inconvenience. Everyone in the store went above and beyond. I appreciate all the help.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?
Expand FAQ item
Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
