Not the typical amazing service that I know Auto Zone to be. I went to this location yesterday, 3/17/26 at 10:25 AM. I needed to return the wrong pair of Power Stop break rotors, and order the correct ones. The store was empty and not busy at all. The tall, skinny, white male, with glasses, who assisted me was originally very helpful and nice. He answered a phone call in the middle of assisting me, which sounded like another store, as he was assisting them with a store related matter. I wasn’t in a rush so I told him to take his time. As I was waiting, I walked around the store a bit. I walked near the second register and saw another associate sitting on a chair between the aisles behind the counter. He was on his phone FaceTiming with someone. I looked at him for a few seconds too long, and he said in a rude tone of voice: “What do you want?” I said, “I’m just waiting. What are you doing? Just chilling?” He rolled his eyes and went back to his FaceTime call. When the skinny, white male associate got off the phone he went to the computer and began looking up new Power Stop rear rotors for my car. He asked me some questions about my break calipers, and if they were single piston or duel piston? I said, “I honestly have no idea. Is that something you can lookup? Or see on my car?” He said, “Sure, let me go out and check.” I told him which car was mine. I watched him go out to my car, which is a ‘23 Dodge Challenger with a law enforcement Setina push bar. As soon as he saw the push bar, and assumed I was law enforcement, his entire attitude and behavior changed immediately. First, he didn’t even bother to go look at the rear wheel or rear caliper. He stood at the front passenger side wheel and acted as though he was inspecting the caliper. When he returned, and walked in the store, I asked him “ was it a single or double piston?” He just ignored me and didn’t respond. He then went back to the computer and typed something in and pulled up the Power Stop AR8774XPR set of rotors for $278 after tax. I couldn’t exchange the rotors I returned and pay the $100 difference, so I paid for them, and I am still waiting on the original funds to hit my account. His entire attitude changed after going to my car. He was quiet, and very short with me. As I was leaving, I notice window signage for a free set of break pads with any rotors purchase. Something he did not bring up or offer me! So…not only was I charged an extra $100 for the “correct” rotors that allegedly “fit my car”, I also lost out on $55+ in free break pads. Luckily today, after how he treated me thinking I was a cop, I had the idea to check the rotors I ordered in Groton to make sure they are compatibility with my car. Sure enough, the new rotors that I just paid for and ordered are NOT the right ones! They don’t fit my car at all! Just to make sure I was looking them up correctly, I then drove to the New London, CT Auto Zone to ask them for assistance. Dave, the Store Manager, found me the correct set of rear rotors that I needed: AR8362XPR, which low and behold were only $205, thus saving me over $70!!! AND…more importantly, the CORRECT ones! Dave said he could not cancel and refund me for the order from the Groton location because they are a special order directly from the vendor. Dave was amazing! The entire Groton location was NOT!!! I am very disappointed!!! This is NOT the typical level of care I normally get at Auto Zone!!! To make matters worse, I now have to wait 5 days to go back to the Groton store, to pick up the wrong rotors, just so I can turn around and return them! I should not have had to purchase three sets of rotors and make numerous trips just to get the right parts! I called Auto Zone customer service line to make them aware of the situation I experienced at this location.
