- EKEd KNov 16, 20251.0Do not use Safelite unless you are sure they have performed successfully on newer cars. I brought my 25 car in to replace the windshield. That went fine, except they took the car 90 minutes after my appointment. I was told that the calibration of cameras was causing issues after the windshield was installed.. After 5 hours at the shop, I was informed it was too risky to keep trying, and to bring it back another day to try again. A woman had been there earlier and the same thing happened to her. I declined to bring it back, and instead went to the dealer I bought the car from. They checked it out and informed me the camera system was ruined. Almost $5000 to replace it. When I drove in to the Safelite shop, everything was working fine. The dealer told my insurance Co. the system was not working correctly when I brought the car in. Codes indicated it. Meanwhile, the car dealer told me if something was incorrect, I'd get a warning on the dashboard. There was none. As of now this is in the hands of my insurance co., but the extra safety features on my car, in the front, are not working. If you have a car without the cameras, then Safelite is fine. They do glass. But I would never trust them again with a newer car where camera systems need to be calibrated.
