- MVMartin ValencianoDec 2, 20251.0Went in for an oil change at the grease monkey in Wellington colorado. Truck was running great when I pulled it in. Store manager agreed with that. They told me truck was ready. I went out and started it and immediately had a hard knock in the engine and wouldn't stay running. Manager called his boss whom I talked with and told me they did everything correctly. After a back and forth conversation, I was stuck there with a dead truck. No offer to help with anything other giving a phone number for a tow truck and a mechanic. I'm on a fixed income so I couldn't afford either one at the moment. 3 hours later my ride and his mechanic showed up and had me try to start it. The mechanic, in front of the manager told him that the air filter was installed backwards which sucks any garbage in the system down to the engine block. The manager scolded the tech who had put it in backwards. Longer story short, corporate for the Wellington grease monkey stated that they reviewed the cameras and they did everything by the book. I asked him if he saw the tech put in the air filter backwards. He did not. Corporate told me unless I can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt and after getting the vehicle fixed, they would decide at that point if they would accept any responsibility. I didn't have the $6800 to fix the truck. So it was my loss. This is not a knockdown on the grease monkey corporation in general. But my personal experience with the Wellington colorado grease monkey. Specifically, their corporate.
