I made my reservation on 11/8/25 over the phone for a 26’ truck, a hand truck, and moving blankets to be picked up the day before Thanksgiving on 11/26/25 at the Parker CO location on 18601 Longs Way. When I arrived there on 11/26/25, there was no one there and the door was locked. I believe there was a sign that said to call the number on it. I did so and the employee stated he was at another facility and that he’d be there soon. About 10-15 minutes later, the employee arrived. We both then walked into the office. From there, I began the checking in process and I gave him my driver’s license. While he was checking me in, I asked him in a nice and normal tone about the truck parked outside which I assumed was the one I reserved. I was just curious if it was an official Penske moving truck because it was white and I don’t believe it had any Penske markings on it. I don’t recall verbatim what he said, but it definitely was a nasty response. I also let him know in a nice and normal tone what I reserved which of course was the truck, hand truck, and moving blankets. He mentioned in an insensitive way that they didn’t have the furniture blankets and the hand truck. A few minutes later, he did end up locating a hand truck. After he stated he didn’t have any moving blankets, I responded in a firm tone (of course not yelling) this time basically stating that was unacceptable because it was the day before Thanksgiving at about 3:00 in the afternoon so there were no other options, I flew my son from MO to CO to help me move, I took time off from work, my son took time off from work, and we had only 3 days to move from CO to WY. From there, the employee escalated his language and behavior very rapidly and told me he wasn’t going to rent to me. Like anyone would, I began to get upset because of the reasons stated above, but the reasons are even more significant now. This is because before he didn’t have any moving blankets which was bad enough, but now he wasn’t going to rent me anything. During his rapid escalation in language and behavior, he mentioned he was going to call the police on me for road rage which is absurd since I haven’t even drove the vehicle. He also stated that because he had my license that he had my information to pass on to the other Penske dealers in the area for them not to rent to me either. Eventually towards the end, he stood up out of his chair and sized me up. Up to this point, he was verbally aggressive and now he was getting physically aggressive. I then decided to take the high road, be the more rational person, and leave.
My horrific experience was not over though. After driving away from the facility, I pulled into an empty parking lot so I could call the Penske nationwide number to tell them about the experience I just had to endure. I also of course still needed a moving truck, hand truck, and moving blankets. The representative who answered truly sounded troubled by what I told him. I then asked if I could speak with a supervisor and so he transferred me to a woman named Erin. She told me she was a supervisor in the corporate office. After I told her of my experience, she put me on hold so she could speak to the regional supervisor in the Parker CO area. To my shock, she simply took the word of the regional supervisor who took the word of the employee I dealt with in the Parker facility which resulted in me not being able to rent from any Penske facility in the area. When I responded to her about taking their side and taking their word, she didn’t have an answer for me. Basically, she stated that she was going off of what the regional supervisor recommended and the regional supervisor went off of what the employee in the Parker CO facility said. Both supervisors didn’t care what my side was. My next call was to U-Haul and thank God they had everything I needed especially the day before Thanksgiving because at the end of the day I still had to move and I only had 3 days to do it.
In conclusion, I wanted to convey the most disturbing customer service experience I ever had in all my life.
