Everything went well. They were prompt, patient and very polite. So far everything is fine only thing I got a violation first thing for 75 dollars because I got out of my car. Left it running while I went into a convenient store. Not good.

Horrible service. Do not recommend whatsoever. My device asks for samples when I'm inside working. Vehicle off. I continue to get violations and charged 75 dollars a time. They have cameras so what's the problem? The salespeople are complete liars about real costs. They will exploit you at every opportunity. Getting anyone on the phone that can speak or understand English is very difficult. If you ask for a specialist be ready to fight and repeat yourself over and over. I may be worth waiting until your time is up to start driving again. This is absolutely horrible. Update: Finally able to speak with a specialist. Was very fair addressing my issues. If everything works out as we discussed I will be very content. Bumping up to 3 stars for now. Hopeful on the follow through. Isaias has continued to be nothing but extremely helpful and understanding with issues that do arise. With this kind of service I do recommend them. 2/9/25 Nope. Go to Smart start. These people are completely incompetent. Find out through the DMV they have not been reporting or even bothered sending the lease agreement to the DMV. They don't care. There is no oversight or accountability. What a joke.

After getting device installed, it shorted out my entire vehicle. Trying to get a claim started and repairs done to my vehicle was an absolute nightmare. You are looped around to several people, all of which you have to explain the entire issue all over again, routed to different people... hours and hours and hours spent on the phone. It has been several months with no resolution. Extreme frustration, hundreds of hours and money spent. Still not fixed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
