- HWH K Wong4 days ago5.0I had a car battery totally dead yesterday. After a jump start I drove it to the branch at 1600 W Colfax. I was greeted with a young man Jake who quickly figured out what battery I needed and explained to me the available options. In the end I went with his recommendation. He went to work right away and had the dead battery replaced in 15 minutes. The experience was totally painless (for me). The other members are probably as good, but I recommend Jake if you ever need their services.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
