Big Drop in quality for Touchless Wash.
**Update after giving them another try, since I sadly had a package of pre-paid washes.
Went back, just in case the last time the bay was out of the right soaps etc. Same result. Car looks just as dirty as before it went through. Again, no off roading or mudding. Just routine errands around town with our mild weather the past few weeks, parked in a garage most of the time. Reached out to customer service to see about a refund on my package of pre-paid washes. Provided photos. While the agent was very professional/polite in interaction, they very clearly have to stick to a script from higher up. It was suggested that my car was just too dirty for the touchless wash to fully clean, and I'd need to use the foamer in the self service bay first, THEN go through the auto bay. After I explained the original dirt levels, and that I had never once had this experience prior to the changes in equipment the past several months, that others have had similar complaints, and that no one should have to use the self serv BEFORE the automatic bay just to get a basic clean, especially at the "Premium wash" levels, they pretty much rephrased the "this dirt is just too much for a touchless wash". Then went on to try to explain to me how car washes work, and how a touchless wash doesn't have rags/brush drums etc. As though I had no idea, and couldn't have picked up on that from being in said wash...
Told them I've been a CO driver for decades, have used countless car washes of all types, over a variety of vehicles, and am aware of what quality to expect from the price/type of wash. But, that I'd just let everyone else with this same problem know their car was also just too dirty, and they'd need to go elsewhere or self wash before the auto wash.***
Have been using this location's Touchless Wash bays for 5 or so years now, and was always happy with my experience until recent months.
Sure, for an automatic touchless wash, you have to adjust expectations accordingly vs an expensivrehand wash. And for a long time this location punched well above the price and average for their "Ultimate" wash.
In the last several months, however... The bays are more frequently down/closed, and especially since June-ish, the quality of the "wash" has steeply dropped. My most recent visit, my car was barely any cleaner coming out of the wash than it was going in. Still a layer of dirt/grime over most of the vehicle (and no, I do not of road, and my car was not caked in mud), the "Ultimate" wash simply seemed to just dampen the dirt enough for me to swirl it around when I started to hand dry it after (I quickly stopped/gave up when I noticed poor job).
The "Ultimate" couldn't even handle a couple bug splats and some bird poop. My rear hatch looks like it wasn't even washed at all, as it's still noticably cloudy/grimier than the rest of the (slightly less cloudy with dirt) vehicle. For a $25, top level wash, it looked like I just quickly sprayed it down with a house on my own driveway. I still have a few pre-paid washes, guess I'll see if any of their other locations still perform like they used to
My car is all black, so sadly hard to get decent photos outside without it just being reflections
