After 14 years as a loyal customer, I am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding my recent service experience, which has led me to the decision to no longer use your service department. When dropping off my vehicle, I was first informed of a $230 minimum diagnostic fee. I was subsequently quoted $4,150 for two major repairs, plus an additional $150 for a cabin filter. I explicitly declined these services and picked up my car. However, the written estimate I received upon pickup included the cabin filter I had denied and omitted one of the major repairs I was quoted. Despite my clarification that I did not authorize the work, I was charged $351 for the diagnostic fee and the filter. Furthermore, I sought a second opinion from an independent Volvo specialist. They informed me that blower motor repairs are uncommon for a vehicle with my mileage and suggested the issue might simply be debris. They inspected my vehicle and confirmed that both the blower motor and coolant pump are in perfect working order. Additionally, the independent shop replaced my rear brake pads for $250, significantly less than the $432 quoted by Rickenbaugh. I have never experienced such poor service or unexpected charges at your dealership. Whether this is an issue with the specific service representative or a shift in company policy, I find it unacceptable. I will not be returning to Rickenbaugh Volvo and wanted to share this feedback so that other customers might avoid a similar experience.

The team here is the best I’ve worked with from start to finish purchasing a car. Beau in particular went above and beyond.

Review Upgrade Addendum: I am revising this review to a 3 because I think not being able to talk to a human is a systemic problem but acknowledging a problem and reaching out means they are concerned. The reason for my addendum is immediately below. My initial review is further down and annotated as such. I received a call from the Manager who is in charge of Cadillac and Volvo. I am somewhat surprised I received a call back but I applaud the dealership for calling back, acknowledging the problem, and asking for a thorough review of my experience. That is rare these days so that would get a 5. I believe the dealership is trying to efficiently address their customers and improve their system with their AI phone system. However, my wife is British and the system seems to struggle greatly with her accent. Still, I understand handling hundreds of calls a day is a difficult task and streamlining that is ultimately probably better for the customer and the dealership. I think the dealership needs to acknowledge that a great number of their customers are probably older and may not appreciate not being able to have an option to talk to a person right away. The manager asked me to give them another chance. I have already delivered my car to another dealer already. However, I believe a dealership that cares enough to ask for a second chance should get that chance so I will give them that opportunity to do that in the sense of fair play. I will update this review again after that experience. Original Review Starts Here: I needed to speak to service. Upon calling ended up in an endless automated phone tree that kept getting hung up. Tried to reach them 3 times. No luck. I ended up calling their competitor MacDonald Volvo in Denver. Amazingly, I was able to talk to a human being and get what I needed scheduled efficiently and have my questions answered so I went there. Rickenbaugh is more conveniently located to our place in Denver. Rickenbaugh's competition is not conveniently located to me but I'll be going there. When I buy a premium brand car I expect to talk to a person and not have my time wasted by inefficient phone trees when I call the dealer.I tried to reach a manager via chat but never did get a call back. We have 2 Volvos right now. An XC90 and a V60 XC. We have been buying Volvos since the early 90's. I'd say we have had somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 over the years. I buy a new fully loaded XC90 about every 18-24 months. There are no Volvo dealers in the state we live so we have to come to Denver or go to Minneapolis. Denver is more convenient. While I have never had the opportunity to see how this dealer actually is, this is one of those times where a poor impression sent me to the other Denver Volvo dealer. The downstream loss of sales on future vehicles and the loss of service revenue on the several Volvo's we have is the consequence. PS: I did get call back from an individual named Sara but I couldn't answer. The voicemail left me a number which I called and sent me to the same silly automated phone system. Subsequently I did speak this person briefly while I was driving to the other dealer. I expressed what I wrote above. PS2: I eventually spoke to Sarah while I was driving to their competition MacDonald Volvo. I expressed the above. She was polite and her response was: "Ok. Thank you Have a nice day. "
