The team at National Car Rental at Denver International Airport were incredibly helpful and professional on both ends of the rental experience. When I went to pick up our rental, I was greeted by a lot ambassador and they guided me to the appropriate Emerald Aisle vehicle class. It's a big place and they walked me to the right area. Upon my return, they were quick to check us in and ask us about our rental experience, which was as expected. Great car, great price, and great experience overall.

Check your bill closely. They emailed me the bill and I foolishly trusted them as I've never had issues before. When I checked, the daily rate was significantly higher that what I reserved and though I returned the vehicle full of gasoline, I was charged for fuel. My mistake since I didn't verify it before leaving so I'll have to eat the costs. Very disappointed as National was me number one choice for car rental and I am a long time customer.
Follow up: I tried following the link in the response to the review and it goes to 404, page not found. I did go to the contact us in the National app and eventually got to a customer service representative. They agreed that the reservation rate and charged rates were different and that the fuel charge was made. The representative was turning the "dispute" over to her boss and they would be telephoning me back to discuss. Two points: I would have thought there was some form of a link between the reservation and charge: and the person checking the return could have actually checked the fuel gauge of the rental car. For those that will read this, you are spot on: ultimately it was MY responsibility to check the bill before leaving the rental location. I made the mistake of trusting the process without verification.

I recently just experienced leaving an item in a rental car that was recently rented from the DEN international airport. 20 minutes after returning the rental car, I noticed that my headphones were not in my bag. I called national customer service to retrieve the headphones and the headphones have yet to be located although through my app the location states the address of DEN Airport National Airport Car Rental Return. I submitted a report and received a response from the location stating the headphones were not located. I rent from National Rental Cars VERY OFTEN due to travel for work and for the representatives at the location to not rightfully return an item to a sole owner is very disappointing. If you ever rent a rental car from National (DEN Airport) Please be sure to double check and make sure you have all items before leaving the car to return to the terminal because more than likely, your lost item will not be returned to you. UPDATE 12/29: The national rental car management team informed me last week that they recovered my item. The item recovered is in fact not my item; the headphones shipped to me are not my headphones. I can track my headphones and they are currently still located in Denver, CO at an apartment complex called "The Lex at Lowry" zip code 80224. I recently just submitted a police report. I am very disappointed with the recent business being conducted regarding my headphones,

I picked up a rental last night at DEN. The porter had just parked the vehicle and I got in as he got out. It was dark out and the headlights were on, I adjusted the mirrors and headed out. During the drive to the hotel I checked the light switch to see if they were auto headlamps and it appeared to be on that setting, finished my ride to the hotel, got out of the vehicle and thought nothing of the lights.
Got up this morning and it was deader than a hammer. Bummer, but no biggie, I’ll just jump start it. Unfortunately, the door key in the fob would not unlock the door so I couldn’t pop the hood to jump it. I called roadside and they ultimately towed it back to the airport and provided me an Uber so that I could pick up a replacement. That service was seamless and pretty good but what happened next proved to me that great customer service still exists in our country.
After picking up the replacement vehicle, I stopped in to have lunch with a colleague. What do I do? I lock the keys in the vehicle, sheer stupidity on my part. During the experience with the first rental earlier in the day, an employee mentioned it is better to email the Denver office at the email address provided on the card I was given when I was leaving the facility than to call roadside. So, I dispatched an email explaining what I had done. Within one minute of hitting send on that correspondence, my phone rang. Carlos from the Denver office was going to send out Conner to get into the vehicle and get the key back for me. In 20 minutes, a super friendly guy named Conner showed up and handed me the key about 2 minutes later. I’m telling you, service like this is RARE these days, I can’t sing their praises enough. For them to go out of their way to help me get out of a situation that I, myself had created is extraordinary! Carlos, thank you for taking care of me and Conner, you’re the best! Just want people to know that good stories like this still happen.
