- MSMike S6 days ago3.0Rental car gas level should be FULL when renting. Getting a car that is at 1/2 or 3/4 tank makes it difficult to judge how much gas to put in before returning the car. This leads to typically returning the car with more gas than what was in it when picking it up. Plus, it requires the renter to immediately go to a gas station to fill up if you are heading out on a road trip.
