I had a few items that I needed to return so I drove down to the store in Delta where I was greated by a very positive and enthusiastic employee Karen. I did not have any receipts and wsa hoping they would be able to look up my profile. Unfortunately she was not able to do that but she jumped through some hoops for me and logged into the old GJ store database and found them!! I can't say enough about her dedication to customer service and positive attitude. She is a rose among the thorns and Advance should be very proud to call her a team member. Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
