When I walked up to the locked door it was exactly five minutes before the posted closing time on a Saturday. Since I knew exactly what I wanted to buy and where it was located inside the store, it would have taken me only one minute to grab the item and get it to the register. Now I am a very unhappy customer and unlikely to return.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
