- KKKyle2 days ago1.0I came in for a core return for some brake calipers I had bought from the same store. I even came in with my receipt showing the original purchase. The same guy who sold them to me told me he could not find the order and refused to take the return so I could get my core charge back. He was also incredibly rude the entire time. Update after business reply: I did take it to the location at 10600 W Colfax Ave and they helped me get my refund in less than two minutes. I like going there better anyway cause there’s a Harbor Freight right next door.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
