My car was totaled, so I rented a vehicle from Enterprise as a temporary solution. The process seemed straightforward: I provided my ID, insurance information, and payment method. When asked if I wanted to purchase additional insurance, I clearly declined because I already had full coverage through my personal policy and my credit card benefits I even signed the required waiver confirming this.
Despite that, I was later charged for the insurance I explicitly declined: $33.74 per day for 11 days, totaling $371.14 in unauthorized fees. My total bill came out to $821.81, and nearly $400 of that amount was unnecessary insurance coverage I neither needed nor agreed to. In other words, Enterprise’s mistake caused me to pay almost double what I should have.
I contacted customer service several times, was escalated repeatedly, and even reached out to the district manager, Zach, no response… and his assistant whom resent Zach my documents, and I still have not received any resolution.
What appeared to be a simple rental turned into an unnecessary and costly mistake on their part; one that they have yet to acknowledge or correct. Please be cautious: if this happened to me despite clear documentation, it can happen to anyone.
