I wish someone would have warned me about the EVgo app before I started using it.
About a month ago when I bought my electric car, the dealership pointed me straight to this app. At the time, I didn’t even realize there were better options out there. Big mistake. If you’re not paying attention, you WILL get ripped off.
I’ve been using EVgo since I got my car, and everything seemed fine… until yesterday.
I went to charge for maybe 10–15 minutes MAX. That’s it. But when I checked my bank account later, they charged me for way longer than I was even there. Completely unacceptable.
To make things worse, the charging station itself was a mess. Chargers weren’t working, people were pulling up and leaving because of issues, and when I finally found one that seemed to work, the screen wasn’t even displaying anything. The app also showed nothing helpful. Honestly, that should’ve been my red flag to leave—but I didn’t.
Now I’m stuck dealing with their customer service, and it’s been a nightmare. They’re not listening at all. Instead of addressing the actual problem, they keep bringing up completely different charging sessions that have NOTHING to do with my issue. No matter how clearly I explain it, they just don’t get it or don’t care.
I’ve been using them for a month with no problems, but the moment something goes wrong, you realize how bad their support really is. Zero accountability. Zero help.
At this point, I’m done. I will be disputing this charge with my bank.
Save yourself the headache and DO NOT use this app.
Use Electrify America instead. It’s cheaper, more reliable, and they even have a wallet feature where you can preload money and avoid surprises like this.
Seriously… learn from my mistake. Stay away from EVgo. 🚫
I am editing this review today, Monday, April 13 from EVgo response to please contact them so they can make it right are you guys out of your mind? What do you think I did? I have emails of you guys going back-and-forth with me telling me that everything is fine like if it’s my first time charging there app is deleted. I only go to Electrify America. Their membership is only seven dollars. That’s it not $13 and it’s way cheaper and when you call CUSTOMER SERVICE they actually help you. I had an issue yesterday fixed immediately with you guys. It takes a bad review for you guys to tell me to contact you back no no no I contact you that day and then for a few days after that when you guys kept emailing me and even giving me the wrong date, please people learn from me. I already told my dealership not to tell people to get EVgo.
