Went in here to replace a couple of tires as one was continually leaking and it was time to replace them anyway. Owen, the salesman that helped me was very kind, very helpful and very personable. The only reason for the low score is while I and 2 other people sat in the lobby with our cars up on jacks, their entire mechanics team went to lunch. And left us all sitting there with no idea that our vehicles were doing nothing while they went to lunch. While I understand that state law says they've got to take breaks blah blah blah, this is nothing but a poor planning and horrific customer service.I'm very disappointed as I liked Owen so well.I was looking forward to this being the new place I did business on a regular basis.Sadly , I don't think that's going to be the case.

Took my car in for a regular maintenance check and oil change today. The guys did a great job. A special shout-out to Owen and the foreman who went above and beyond explaining important things about my high mileage car and how to take care of it to ensure longevity.

I was greeted with respect and caring. They were efficient and immediately put me at ease. They fixed my issue at no charge. I will continue to seek their services and know my car is in good hands! I am a loyal Skipps customer.

I recently brought my vehicle to Skip's after a check engine light came on. My experience was a frustrating mix of technical competence and unprofessional customer service that left me questioning their business practices.
I want to start with the positive: the mechanic who worked on my car was excellent. He successfully fixed the check engine light and provided a much clearer, more detailed explanation of the vehicle's issues than I typically get at other shops. If the entire experience had been based on his work alone, this would be a 5-star review.
Unfortunately, the administrative side of the business was a different story.
Inflated Estimates: I was initially given an estimate for replacing spark plugs and coils that was inflated by $1700, almost double of what this should normally cost. It wasn't until I pushed back and asked them to justify the figures that they "recognized their mistake" and corrected the labor numbers. While they did fix it, it shouldn't require a customer to audit their own estimate to get a fair price.
Front Desk Conduct: Perhaps most concerning was the atmosphere in the lobby. When I dropped of my car, I overheard front desk staff making insulting remarks about other customers immediately after hanging up the phone with them. It’s incredibly unprofessional and makes you wonder what they say about you the moment you walk out the door.
Advice to Future Customers:
If you choose Skip's for the quality of their mechanics, be extremely careful with your estimates. Do not take the first number they give you at face value. I strongly suggest asking the front desk to review their labor hours and part costs before authorizing any work.
Great mechanics are hard to find, but it’s a shame they are backed by a front office that seems to lack both transparency and basic respect for their clientele.
Warning, be prepared to be scammed especially of you are a single woman! If you go here, do NOT work with Luis (manager in training). I went in for an oil change and tire rotation. He said it would be about an hour since I was the second one in first thing in the morning. After 2.5 hours I get a call that I'm going to need $900 in repairs including a new timing belt, filter, and battery.
I was really surprised by the battery since I haven't had any issues or lags when starting the car. I asked him to look at the date on the battery since I've only had the car for 9ish months and wasn't sure when it was last replaced. Said they weren't able to see the date but that the reading was coming back in the red. I told him to return my old battery to me bc I wanted to keep it, but to switch it out.
When I picked up my car, I reminded Luis I wanted my old battery. The date was 02/2025, so I also asked for the read out showing my battery was in the red. He disappeared into the shop and never brought it back.
I took the battery to O'Reilly to test it next day and it was totally good, Luis straight up lied. I went back to Skip's, showed Owen the O'Reilly read out, demanded they take their battery out and put my original battery back, and refund my money. It was $275 for the new battery! I told them it was disgraceful to be out here scamming women who come to the shop, and I would be telling the people I know who have been going to this shop religiously for years to be VERY careful if they continue to go here (I talked to them and they won't be returning). Owen was understanding and said he would be formally writing Luis up for this and that the shop is under new management, but this is unacceptable and I do not trust that any of the recommended work was actually necessary and I still shelled out $600 for what should have just been an oil change.
TLDR: be prepared to be told you need extra repairs that you do NOT need, especially a new battery. Keep all parts if you do go through with repairs here and confirm the work was needed (keep the old battery and get it tested yourself next door at O'Reilly for free). They see a single woman walk in and see dollar signs. Disgusting.
