THE technicians is trying to push for synthetic oil which is not indicated. I understand they are trying to upsell the service, but the manager needs to train the staff not to scare customers specially, those who are knowledgeable . They keep on telling me they do not guarantee the oil change. I just requested a conventional oil and they keep on pushing for synthetic which is not listed on the manufacturers handbook for my car.

If you're a young woman trying to figure out where to go for a quick oil service: stay away from this location. The classic hallmarks of a scam are 1) a contrived sense of urgency, and 2) the "threat of consequences" – which pressures individuals into forking over money when they otherwise wouldn't. And unfortunately, this Jiffy Lube is apparently pretty familiar with that strategy. A few weeks ago, I recommended my sister run to this Jiffy Lube for an oil change as I've never had any issues with the company at its other locations. She is a younger, new driver and I guess looked like dollar signs to the employees. According to her, the oil service went fine and she also asked for the free brake inspection, which is where the issue arose. When the guy came back after the brake inspection, he told her: "your back brakes are extremely worn out" (whatever that means) and it'll cost her $500 to fix. Already, this seems pricy for a brake pad replacement but whatever. Red flags began when he would not specify what the issue is, whether it's the brake pads, the rotors, or both. He then goes on to tell her that – in their current condition – she wouldn't even be able to do her planned trip up to Santa Barbara the next day. That statement is creating a sense of urgency for this decision. He follows that with the threat of consequences tactic, saying: "It's $500 or your life. $500 seems worth it." She calls me about this before making any decision. I tell her it seems sketch and to refuse the service, saying I'll take a look at them for her. She does this and later that day I take a look at them, and they were in fine condition. The pads at least had several more months, and certainly would get her up to Santa Barbara. I recommended she bring it to a more reliable mechanic anyways just to double-check, which she recently did and they also told her the brakes look completely fine. They found zero issues with the pads or the rotors, and were dumbfounded when she told them what the employee at this Jiffy Lube said. All in all, there are some ridiculously scummy practices happening here. To lie to someone, to tell them that their life is on the line unless they pay $500 for a brake pad replacement, is just a prime example of dirty dealing. And looking through the other reviews, this isn't an isolated incident. I get it, times are tough and you gotta do what you gotta do to make some money. But trying to take advantage of people's lack of knowledge and scam them is just a lazy and unethical way to operate as a business.
