    I flew in on a business trip, and Sixt was the preferred vendor for my company. I was a bit reticent given negative reviews I had seen, though the ones for OC/John Wayne are better. I had a great experience. The attendant (Youness) was quick and friendly, the car was great, and I had no issues either picking it up or returning. Youness even got me a very nicedeal on an upgrade. Would definitely use them again.

    Avoid this company. Google the corporate office and read the reviews of this company. I am being blamed for damage to a rental that I did not do. You will find that this company does this a lot to their customers. Even though their own pre check out report on my rental shows the damage was already there, they are still trying to say I did it. I will be escalating to their corporate offices and not dealing with their automated email claims department. Avoid a future problem and go elsewhere.

    I would avoid this place like the plague unless you wish to be scammed. When my wife and I arrived to pick up our rental we were informed that they actually didn’t have a vehicle for us and that our only options were to upsize for a $300 fee, come back in 12 hours to pick up the vehicle with no partial refund offered, or to cancel the reservation and the employee would forward a refund request to the manager. The employee at the front desk tried to tell me it was my fault that they didn’t have a vehicle for us because we were underage (23). Funny thing about that is we stated our ages when we made the reservation. When I informed the employee of this and that they shouldn’t allow me to rent a vehicle they don’t actually have available, all they could say was “well, thank you for the suggestion” in a sarcastic manner. Needless to say, we requested that the reservation be canceled and a refund be provided. Taking payment for a service you know won’t provide is the textbook definition of a scam. Well color me surprised when that refund never came! I called the SIXT customer service and they berated me over the phone that I had to cancel through Expedia since my reservation was booked through them. No problem, I could have gone without the yelling but fair enough. I called Expedia and they issued a refund request with the manager of the SIXT location. Well, the manager decided to just ignore all of their attempts to contact him until today (multiple weeks later) where they “iterated their no cancellation policy”. I have had to issue a credit card dispute to get the money that was stolen from me back. If you want to be lied to, disrespected, scammed, and stolen from this is the car rental you want to use.

    My rental car was not available and I was given a" free on-us" upgrade. The car had over 23,000 miles with lots of dents and issues. Sean / "Shawn" who checked the car back made a report of a scratch so I now have to go back and forth over whether the company is going to charge me for such a scratch. Fortunately I already have pictures that I took when I picked up the car of the very scratch that Sean reports. He was not particularly friendly and I would not recommend this company.

    Reserved Car Not Available + Misleading Charges I had a very frustrating experience with Sixt. Despite having a confirmed reservation, the car I reserved was not available when I arrived. I was then pressured to pay more to get a vehicle of similar size, which completely defeats the purpose of making a reservation in advance. When I declined the upsell, I was given a massive 8-seat SUV that I did not want or need. Throughout the pickup process, I was repeatedly pushed to buy Sixt’s insurance and toll packages, even after clearly explaining that I would not be driving far or using the car much. This felt unnecessarily aggressive. The most disappointing part was the fuel charge. I was told gas would cost $4.30 per gallon if Sixt refueled the car upon return, so I agreed. What was not disclosed is that this meant paying for a full tank regardless of usage. I only used about a quarter tank, yet was charged for a full refill. As you can imagine, a fill up for a large SUV is not cheap. It was just over $100. This lack of transparency feels intentionally misleading. Overall, this experience involved poor reservation fulfillment, unnecessary upselling, and unclear pricing. I would not recommend Sixt and will not be renting from them again.
