This place is awful! DO NOT! I REPEAT DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!
I’ve written TWO Better Business bureau reviews for this gem.
Just try calling them. If you’re not a customer, they will answer IMMEDIATELY and sell you on a scam that’s sounds so great and easy. Nothing but a nightmare from then on. Currently, I’m 4 hours in on hold and transfers. Three agents have hung up on me. Two have lied straight to me giving me bogus directions that I follow to the T! Just to be back to square one.
They charge you ahead of time. And if you don’t have the energy to fight them back. THATS HOW THEY GET MONEY! They won’t even answer your phone call unless your balance is 0$. And if they lock you out on mistake. YOU have to pay for THEIR mistake first, AND THEN you get help.
This situation is my fault. But this is not a business that helps you get through it. This is a scam business that makes every step of this difficult situation THREE times as hard. I’ve been stranded, and on my last dollar multiple times because of their misleading and flat out lies.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
