My experience with Volvo of San Rafael was truly outstanding from start to finish. I initially worked with Harry Yee, and when he was going to be off, I began communicating with Tex. Because the pricing on the 2023 Volvo XC90 was very competitive, there were several customers physically at the dealership who were also interested and test-driving the vehicle. I live about 4.5 hours away, so all of my communication with Tex was over phone and text. He was very transparent and honest that the deal might go through with the customers who were already there, but what stood out to me was that he never brushed me off. He consistently kept me informed throughout the day, even though he didn’t have to. That courtesy meant a lot.
Later that same day, Tex reached out to let me know the deal hadn’t been finalized, which gave me the opportunity to be next in line. Because of that, I was able to secure the vehicle and they held it for me until I could make the long trip to pick it up. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Harry, who took me on a short test drive—and I immediately fell in love with the car. The paperwork process was incredibly efficient; everything was prepared ahead of time, and I was in and out in record time. Harry’s extensive knowledge of the vehicle, professionalism, and calm demeanor made the entire experience feel like I was buying a car from a trusted family member.
During my visit, Tex also came over to greet me in person and introduce himself, which again reinforced that family-like feeling. I drove the 4.5 hours home without any issues. The next day, however, my backup camera stopped working, followed by the IHU (infotainment screen). I contacted Tex right away, and he immediately advised me to go to my local Volvo dealership (Volvo of Fresno), which was much closer. Since the car was newly purchased, my information hadn’t yet populated in the warranty company’s system. Tex went above and beyond to help, and Volvo of San Rafael absorbed the diagnostic cost while we waited for the warranty information to update. Ultimately, it was determined that the IHU needs to be replaced—a repair totaling approximately $2,900.
While this could have been frustrating, I honestly wasn’t upset. Things happen, and because Tex had been honest and transparent from the very beginning, they had already earned my trust. What truly sets Volvo of San Rafael apart is their service. Anyone can sell a car, but not everyone stands behind the customer after the sale. Despite the fact that the vehicle was already sold, they continued to support me without hesitation. I received world-class service, and I would absolutely return to Volvo of San Rafael for a future purchase. Thank you to Tex, Harry, and the entire team.

Back in September, we traveled to Marin to purchase an electric car while the rebate was still available. We worked with several people, but I want to give special recognition to Elyas and Matt. They were incredibly patient as we chose the perfect car for us—right down to the light blue color we loved.
Matt went above and beyond by ensuring the car was fully charged, sourcing a liner for the back, and even helping us get the app activated. Elyas worked his magic, leveraging his relationships with other dealerships to secure the exact car we wanted. However, on our drive home—after signing all the paperwork—we discovered it didn’t have the weather package. Heated seats are a big deal for me!
We called immediately, and Elyas didn’t miss a beat. He worked even more magic across the Bay Area to find the same color car with the weather package included. Matt showed incredible dedication by waking up early on a Sunday morning, driving to San Jose to pick up the car, and then delivering it to us two hours away. The switch was seamless—paperwork handled via email—and just like that, I had the car that was a great fit for me!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Volvo Marin, even though I arrived very late and the dealership was close to closing. Matt Jafarov truly went above and beyond. He never rushed me, put in so much effort, and even stayed late to make sure I could get my car before closing. His dedication, patience, and genuine care made the entire experience smooth and stress free.
I am also very thankful for the Madam Manager, who came out later to greet me. She was absolutely lovely. Her hospitality and warm, welcoming attitude meant so much, especially so late in the day. She was incredibly kind and sweet, and it truly showed how much this dealership values its customers.

Went here to test drive a XC90 after visiting Audi Marin. What a night and day difference. Took forever to get greeted, sales person seemed unknowledgeable and unengaged. Wanted to test drive a new one, he pulled up a used one. Parking is VERY tough here. I could NOT recommend this dealership. Ended up buying a Audi Q7 the next day.

We worked with Thayer to explore Volvo as our first SF vehicle after a recent move to the city. He was very straight and did a lovely job organically laying out the many draws of the brand and the model we were interested. My husband and I are so happy with our new Volvo, and so appreciate the attention to detail Thayer brought to our introduction to this brand.
